Abstract: A brush for applying make-up, particularly mascara, including a shaft provided at one end with a core (6) formed by two metal wires (7, 8) twisted together and having bristles (9) squeezed therebetween such that they extend transversely to the core axis. At least some of the brush bristles (9) have an L-shaped cross-section so that the portion of each bristle (9) which is squeezed between said twisted core wires is flattened either outwards when the arms of the L are pushed apart, or inwards when they are pressed together. In either case, the stiffness of the bristle is reduced and the spacing between the bristle and a wire helix formed after twisting is advantageously increased, whereby a random distribution of bristle cross-sections is achieved.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a makeup brush such as an eyebrow brush, an eyeshadow brush or the like that is capable of providing sharp lines and/or gradation of makeup when applied. The makeup brush as embodied in the present invention generally includes a shank and a brush tuft mounted on an end of the shank. The width of the brush tuft along its top surface as viewed from a plan view of the top surface tapers such that the width of one end of the brush tuft is greater than the width of the second end. In one embodiment of the present invention, the top surface of the brush tuft is defined along a first plane that forms an acute angle with a second plane in which a base portion of the brush tuft. The apex of the acute angle is substantially located near the second end of the brush tuft.

Abstract: An improved eyelash curler comprises upper and lower concave jaws, the sides of each jaw forming an aperture through which the person curling can, by a mirror, observe and accurately apply the device. The jaws are normally kept open by a spring. Two finger tabs on each jaw, located near the concave jaws, allow for two handed operation.

Abstract: The present invention is an ergonomic make-up shield. The make-up shield comprises an eye portion having a curved smooth edge for engaging against a person's face adjacent to the eye. The eye portion further has two side edges which define a first plane. The make-up shield also comprises a handle portion integrally attached to the eye portion. The handle portion forms a solid closed planar surface extending downwardly in a second plane essentially perpendicular to the first plane. Preferably, the closed planar surface provides a surface area of at least 0.50 square inches for providing ample surface area for ease of handling and ergonomic wrist positioning. The natural position of the wrist while grasping the handle portion between the thumb and the index finger turns the hand and knuckles sideways to provide a clear open area which is specifically the area where the other hand applies the make-up to the face.

Abstract: For the purpose of mobility a pair of wing shape stencils is connected by a nut and screw passing through the elongated slots which allows the stencils to move horizontally and vertically. This procedure allows the adjustment of horizontal distance and an angle of the eyebrow cut-outs simultaneously. When the two stencils are connected the V- shapes formed thereby, provide centering guides. The stencil may have one or more eyebrow cut-outs generally in the middle area with a additional eyebrow line at the upper edge and an eyeline shadow guide at the lower edge. The stencils are supported by stretchable head bands and clips which are secured around the head during the application.

Abstract: An eyelash shield device is provided having curvatures at each end of an elongated member. The invention also includes a process for using a makeup device to apply makeup to eyelash. The curved ends are applied above and below the eye, between the face and eyelashes of the user so as to protect the face from smudging eyelash makeup on the face or from disturbing pre-applied makeup to the user's face while applying mascara to the eyelashes. An alternative embodiment of the eyelash shield device has a clip for attaching the shield to a mascara case and includes first and second members pivotally connected to each other. The first functions as a shield between the user's face and eyelashes and has a curved edge conforming to the curvature of the periphery of the user's eye. Abstract: The present invention discloses an instrument for collecting eye shadow during cosmetics application. The instrument includes a collector which collects particles of eye shadow that do not adhere to the eyelids during the application of eye shadow to a subject. The collector also prevents the particles of eye shadow from contacting and adhering to additional areas of the face of the subject. The collector has a U-shaped collecting surface having a face-engaging edge. The U-shaped collecting surface has a width greater than the width of the eye. A handle attached to the collector holds the collector in position underneath the eye of the subject during use. The handle includes a loop portion shaped to fit on a finger, and the handle is connected to the collector at the end of the collecting surface opposite the face engaging surface.

Abstract: A disposable eye makeup shield for use during the application of eye makeup being specifically structured to provide a barrier or protective shield over the lower eyelid and areas of the user's face below the eyes, thereby preventing excess makeup from falling thereon or onto the user's clothing during makeup application. The makeup shield includes a flexible, yet rigid interior body forming a frame structure and having an outer convex, arcuate side and an inner concave side, the interior body defining an overall general configuration of the eye makeup shield. Abstract: The present invention provides a device which may be used during the application of eyelash makeup. The device consists of a body with each end conforming generally to the slanted curvature of the left and right human eyes and facial bone structures, with the connecting handle fastened to each end of an offset angle which results in a comfortable fit to the respective left or right eye. The handle fits in place between the nose bridge and cheekbone with the upper end of the body formed with a curvature so as to fit around the underside and outside of the lower eyelash of the user.

Abstract: A cosmetic container is provided with an annular lip within the container neck by a method which involves providing a closure for the container which has moulded integrally therewith a lip-forming member. When the closure is fitted to the container, the member forms an interference fit with the inner wall of the container and is retained when the closure is removed. An applicator wand on the closure extends through the annular member and the member acts as a wiper for the wand.

Abstract: The eyebrow cover element comprises an elongate, arcuate body made of material selected from synthetic material, metal, and precious metals, and having on one side thereof, a concavity having an inner surface. Abstract: A method and apparatus for applying and blending on a human upper eyelid various shades of one or more of eye shadows. The method includes applying two or more shades in individual segments on the upper eyelid and blending in all together. The apparatus is made of a flexible material, and includes a cut-out section and a recess section separated by a thin partition wall for applying various shades of eye shadows therethrough. The device is contoured to fit within the bone structure above the eye of a person and includes holding flaps with pressure-sensitive adhesive back-layers for temporarily securing it on the face of the person. Two markings are provided for aligning the device with the outer curvature of the upper eyelid of the user.

Abstract: A simulated eyebrow applicator, comprises a sheet of thin material, a pair of simulated eyebrows formed thereon, a plurality of adhesive areas on the sheet of thin material, and a corrugated part or an extendable part. The applicator can be adhered to the face with the adhesive areas after the distance between the simulated eyebrows is adjusted with the corrugated part or the extendable part. Then the simulated eyebrows can be rubbed-pressed to the face.
