Abstract: A hair curler comprising a cylindrical body having a longitudinal axis and a transverse axis and a removable rod extending through the body along the transverse axis thereof. The inventive curler enables a novel method of curling hair including the steps of curling the hair around the curler comprising a cylindrical body having a longitudinal axis and a transverse axis and a removable rod extending through the body along the transverse axis thereof and securing the curled hair to the head of a user by inserting a rod through the body of the curler along the longitudinal axis thereof. In the illustrative embodiment, the cylindrical body is perforated and has multiple protrusions. The cylindrical body has a variable diameter with tapered ends. The diameter of the body is smaller in the middle section thereof. The rod is beaded and has bends therein.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a permanent rod. The permanent rod includes a tube-shaped rod body. In the rod body, a pair of cut surfaces is provided to form a band-shaped insertion opening over the entire longitudinal section of the rod body, and a plurality of compression grooves each having a concave bottom surface are formed in the outer surface of the rod body over the entire longitudinal section. Also, the permanent rod includes: a compression member body having a compression surface corresponding to each of the grooved bottom surfaces; and a compression member detachably coupled to the rod body so that the compression surface contacts the grooved bottom surface. Therefore, the permanent rod may create various wave styles.

Abstract: A hot roller system is disclosed that allows women and/or men to get a straight, volumizing look, or a loose wave in their hair without the expense of salon visits and/or chemical treatments. The adjustable hot roller system comprises an adjustable hot roller device and a storage case. The device comprises opposing ends, and a generally cylindrical body. Further, the body comprises an outer covering that encompasses the body, and a pair of end caps removably secured to each opposing end of the body. Furthermore, the adjustable hot roller device can be expanded in diameter by a user grasping the middle of the outer covering or end caps and pulling in opposing directions. Specifically, the outer covering and the end caps separate along their lengths, exposing the generally cylindrical body. Additionally, the device comprises a clip positioned around the outer covering to secure the device in a user's hair.

  • Patent number: 5694954
Abstract: A heated adjustable diameter hair curler is formed of a sheet of a flexible material such as a plastic. The sheet has two planar sides. Disposed within the sheet are one or more thermal elements such as thin flexible sheets and/or flexible wires or coils fabricated of thermally conductive material such as metal. One end of the sheet has a curler thermal connector to which are connected the thermal elements. A base thermal connector in a heating unit mates with the curler thermal connector so that a thermally conductive path is formed from the heating unit to the curler thermal connector of the curler. • Patent number: 4898194
Abstract: A hair treatment device consists of a thin flexible plastic strip provided with radiused ends and a row of apertures. In use, the strip is inserted under the bands of perm rods which are situated on the head of a user. The user's hair is wrapped around the perm rods and secured by the bands. By inserting the strip between the perm rod bands and the user's hair, the bands are lifted slightly from the hair. When permanent solution is applied to the hair, the hair tends to expand against the perm rod bands. The strip serves to release the tension of the bands from the hair, preventing the hair from breaking. The holes in the strip allow the permanent solution to freely penetrate to all areas of the hair.
