Abstract: A heatable hair roller includes a roller shell and a removable heatable rod. The unheated roller shell is secured in the hair without risk of heating or burning the skin. The heatable rod is then inserted into the roller shell, and the heatable rod heats the hair by heating the roller shell. An optional roller strap secures the roller shell to the hair. An optional expansion sleeve increases the effective diameter of the heatable rod. An optional heating unit heats the heatable rod.

Abstract: A device for maintaining a lock of hair such as a dreadlock is provided. The device comprises a housing encasing a motor activated by a controller. A grooming element for encasing the dreadlock is rotatably situated within the housing. The housing comprises a clamping mechanism for securing the device to the dreadlock. Once the dreadlock is secured by the clamping mechanism, the grooming element rotates around the dreadlock to integrate new hair growth into the dreadlock. The grooming element comprises a plurality of trimming components for removing any excess hair that did not integrate into the dreadlock.

The rods can have a same or different diameter. An elastomeric band longitudinally engages each of the rods. Each band has an attachment end disposed on the arm and a cap end that sealingly engages a cavity within each rod. Hair strands are wrapped around the rods in a FIG. 8 configuration and the bands secure the hair strands against the rods during the application and processing of the permanent hair wave solution. Apertures and holes disposed in each of the respective rods and bands evenly distribute the solution.

Abstract: A hair styling device dry and/or to form a hair strand into a curl by suctioning hair into a hair styling chamber is disclosed. The device has a main styling chamber and air flow channel parallel to the styling chamber. The device has a vacuum impeller mounted in a fan chamber. The fan chamber is aerodynamically connected to the main styling chamber and to the air flow channel. The styling chamber has a styling form, which in the depicted embodiment is a spiral for forming spiral curls. The styling form can be heated directly by a heater and the air flow channel can have heating elements to heat the air flowing through it. At the opposite end of the body from the impeller, there is a hair inlet with a mixing tip through which hair is drawn into the styling chamber around the styling form by suction of the air flow.

The adjustable hot roller system comprises an adjustable hot roller device and a storage case. The device comprises opposing ends, and a generally cylindrical body. Further, the body comprises an outer covering that encompasses the body, and a pair of end caps removably secured to each opposing end of the body. Furthermore, the adjustable hot roller device can be expanded in diameter by a user grasping the middle of the outer covering or end caps and pulling in opposing directions. Specifically, the outer covering and the end caps separate along their lengths, exposing the generally cylindrical body. Additionally, the device comprises a clip positioned around the outer covering to secure the device in a user's hair.

A female connector is formed on the proximal end of the attachment. The proximal ends of the attachments are configured to telescope into the concave opening so that the female connectors mate with the male terminal pins. Abstract: A hair styling attachment for connection to a device producing an air stream, such as an air curler, has two arms connected together with an articulated joint. The facing top sides of the arms have complementary working surfaces which form a hair styling gap. At least one arm is capable of motion about the pivot axis of the joint. The arm capable of motion is connected to a control lever extension within the hair styling attachment which is located on the opposite side of the pivot axis from its working surface and at an angle to the plane of the working surface. A first drive mechanism for adjusting this arm about the pivot axis acts on the control lever extension. The first drive mechanism is driven by a rotatably mounted first drive shaft, which connects it to a rotationally mounted second drive shaft of the device.

During curling, the hair may be compressed between the clamping member and the rod. The curling iron may then be rotated on the lateral straight edge to form a solid barrel curl.

In its most basic form, the hairbrush includes a brush head having a plurality of bristles, a removable brush handle, and a quick disconnect mechanism for removably attaching the brush handle to the brush head such that the brush handle may be quickly removed from the brush head. In the preferred embodiment, the quick disconnect mechanism includes a rod extending from the brush handle with a spring loaded ball partially extending from the rod, and an opening disposed within the brush head for accepting the rod and retaining the ball. The preferred ball presses against a sleeve disposed within the opening in the brush head. In some embodiments, however, the sleeve is eliminated and the opening includes a keyway and retainer mates with the ball and holds the ball in place.

Abstract: An ultrasonic hair curling device capable of applying ultrasonic vibration efficiently to hairs for effective hair styling in a short time. The device includes a housing, an ultrasonic generator incorporated in the housing for generating ultrasonic vibrations, and a horn connected to receive and transmit the ultrasonic vibrations. The horn is formed at its end with a hollow barrel which projects from the housing for receiving therearound a strand of hair to be curled. The hollow barrel is provided at a portion intermediates at its longitudinal ends with a hair winding zone of which cross-section is smaller than the other portion of the hollow barrel. The hair winding zone of the reduced cross section can vibrate at an amplitude larger than at the front end of the barrel for applying the ultrasonic vibrations efficiently to the hair and making the hair curling effectively.

Abstract: Long hair is curled by isolating each of the strands of hair that the subject desires to be curled; applying a curling agent to the strand at this point or later; placing a curling ribbon comprising a ribbon of fabric having three longitudinal stiffening wires adjacent the strand of hair and wrapping it around the strand to envelop the hair strand; securing the curling ribbon to the base of the strand; and then winding the ribbon-enveloped strand around a cylindrical curling mandrel. The mandrel is then withdrawn from within the coil without uncoiling the strand, and the process is repeated until all of the coils are made. After the setting or permanent waving agent has worked, the stiffened ribbon is removed and the hair is combed out. Alternatively, the ribbons may be allowed to remain in the hair as decoration.

Abstract: In one embodiment a blow dryer includes a barrel having an opening. A deflector, having an aperture, positioned within or substantially within the barrel. The hand-held blow dryer can be utilized in at least a first or open mode in which air flow is directed through the barrel opening of the barrel, and a final or fully deflecting mode. Thus, in the fully deflecting mode most of the air is deflected by the deflector so as to diffuse the airflow. Additionally, the shape of the deflector allows the airflow to be maintained while the deflector is in any position, thus, allowing the airflow to flow past the heating coils in the barrel so that potential overheating of the blow dryer is reduced. In another embodiment, a gap is provided between two flaps which comprise the deflector so as to achieve the same result. In still another embodiment, rings are provided around the circumference of a barrel having holes in the barrel. The rings diffuse the air emanating out of the holes and also guide the hair for styling.

Abstract: This invention relates to a hair styling brush and method of use. A brush according to the invention will have particular utility with hair which is to be "blow dried", usually after the hair has already been partially dried, for instance after it has been "towel-dried". There is provided a hair styling brush which includes a head, a handle connected to the head, and bristles carried by and projecting from the head wherein the head carries a temperature sensitive color-change material, the material being selected to be inert to hair and adapted to indicate a minimum threshold temperature for hair styling. There is also provided a method of use of such a hair styling brush.

Abstract: Presented are three embodiments of a hair curler including in one embodiment an apertured tubular member having an apertured felt-like layer secured to the tubular member. A flexible anchor pad having flexible hook-like protrusions is adhered to the felt-like layer diametrically opposite the abutting ends of the felt-like layer. An elongated paper-like strip is attached by one end portion to the felt-like layer, and may be wound about the felt-like layer in either direction so as to overlap the anchor pad. In a second preferred embodiment, the flexible felt-like layer is secured to only one half of the outer periphery of the tubular member. Abstract: A hair roller is provided around which hair can be wound easily with tension toward the outside acting on the hair, without a fear that the distal ends of the hair are folded, with ease in handling, and with good operativity, and with which the wound state can be maintained, regardless of the level of skill, i.e., even by a beautician who lacks experience or an amateur. A hair roller comprises a rod having a hair winding portion where at least a portion around which hair is wound is resiliently restitutively compressed and deformed and also having a hair distal end retaining member for retaining distal ends of hair and a wind maintaining member for maintaining the state of hair wound around the rod with tension.
