Shaped Cosmetic Applier Patents (Class 132/320)
  • Patent number: 5810027
Abstract: An applicator roller element has a cylindrical shape and is mounted on the end of a handle element upon which it may rotate. The roller may be saturated with sun-tan lotion for instance for application to the skin, where the lotion is then transferred to the skin by rolling action of the roller element with respect to the handle element. The handle element is constructed so as to collapse into the roller element axially to make a compact unit for storage in a case. In one embodiment a connection rod element providing attachment of the handle to the roller is able to telescopically collapse into the handle element, while the handle element is able to collapse into the roller element for improved compact storage.

  • Patent number: 5738067
Abstract: A cosmetics container is provided having a housing (1) which is coverable by a cap (2). The housing protectively contains a cosmetic or medicinal preparation such as a lipstick or ointment which can be extruded for application to the skin. In solid lipsticks, problems often arise as a result their temperature-dependent characteristics. To avoid such problems, the container of the invention is for use with a pumpable fluid preparation in the form of a paste or viscous liquid. The container acts as a dispenser, having a push-button actuator (10, 20') operable to pump the preparation in a skin contact element (31) with an applicator surface (32) and a dispensing valve (33). In a particularly useful embodiment, the skin applicator surface (31) is arranged in a plane which is inclined in relation to a longitudinal axis (x--x) of the housing (1).

  • Patent number: 5657778
Abstract: The brush comprises a wand equipped at one end with a core (6) formed by two twisted branches (7,8) of metal wire. Between the turns of the branches, bristles (9) extending transversely with respect to the core, are trapped. At least a fraction of the bristles (9) of the brush has a transverse section in the shape of an L. The zone of the bristle (9) wedged between the turns of the metal core is flattened either through the effect of unfolding when the angle between the branches of the L opens or through the effect of folding when the angle between the branches of the L closes. This flattening reduces the rigidity of the bristle on the one hand and, on the other hand, preferentially increases the spacing of the bristle with respect to the helical ply formed by the turns. Thus, the flattening creates a disorganized arrangement of the section of the bristles.

The end of the handle has a locking ring, endplug or endcap that is designed to hold by friction the handle to the housing, either in the stored position with the handle in the housing, or in the extended position for use. The applicator pad has an annular depression to enable the pad to control the spread of the lotion. Lotion is spread toward the depression by the higher center and thus over the pad,but the excess lotion is confined to it by the higher edge of the pad. The present applicator will enable more efficient application of lotion by applying all of it rather than absorbing part of it.
