Air Heated Or Cooled (fan, Fins, Or Channels) Patents (Class 137/338)
  • Patent number: 4858734
Abstract: There is disclosed a slide type exhaust brake system having: an exhaust brake body orthogonal to an exhaust passageway provided with a protrudent connecting wall to an air release pipe; and air cylinder leading to one end of the brake body; a tabular valve member incorporated into a reciprocatory operation passageway and fitted to a tip of a piston rod penetrating a partition wall with respect to the air cylinder unit; a block member engaging with the valve member; and an exhaust pressure adjusting hole communicating with an engagement port. When closing the exhaust passageway, the exhaust pressure adjusting hole is closed substantially by the tip of the piston, keeping a minute spacing with respect to a peripheral surface of the engagement port. The peripheral surface of the exhaust pressure adjusting hole undergoes a unidirectional thrust by the piston tip. When opening the exhaust passageway, the exhaust pressure adjusting hole is opened substantally by the piston tip.

  • Patent number: 4856624
Abstract: There is disclosed a slide type exhaust brake system including: a housing of an exhaust brake body having an exhaust passageway; an air cylinder unit leading to an upper end of a reciprocatory operation passageway; and a tabular valve member incorporated into the reciprocatory operation passageway and engaging with a tip of a piston rod penetrating a partition wall with respect to the air cylinder unit. The valve member has an exhaust pressure adjusting hole, undergoes a unidirectional thrust given by the piston rod tip when closing the exhaust passageway, and moves in the other direction together with the piston rod when opening the exhaust passageway.

  • Patent number: 4840348
Abstract: Herein disclosed is a valve actuator which is to be used with a slide exhaust brake system. The valve actuator includes a cylinder casing which is constructed of: a shortened cyclinder body having a length substantially equal to the sliding distance of a piston member fitted therein; and a cylindrical wall fixed on the inner side of the bottom wall of the cylinder body such that the cylinder body has its lower end merging around its circumference into the circumference of the upper end of the cylindrical wall. The heat to be transferred from the exhaust brake system to the actuator is effectively reduced by a thermal impulse at the fixing portion between the cylinder body and the cylindrical wall to exert less thermal influences upon the packing of the piston member.

  • Patent number: 4478241
Abstract: A valve block for glassware forming machines is rendered faster and more accurate by substituting, for the pilot air system, a plurality of solenoids directly coupled with the cartridge valves which handle the operational air, the major part of the bodies of said solenoids being arranged across the main operational air feed manifold to be cooled by the air passing therethrough, a closed chamber around the upwardly projecting ends of said solenoid valves, means for passing cooling air through said chamber, a plate for closing the lower ends of said valve chambers, and a plurality of manually actuatable push buttons in said lower plate to permit manual actuation of said cartridge valves. In order to facilitate removal of the cartridge valves for maintenance purposes, said valves are modified by removing the wider portion of their bodies and providing a section in the valve chamber of smaller diameter to engage the end plunger portion of the valve member.

  • Patent number: 4270728
Abstract: Fluid valves for use in internal combustion engines incorporate both plastic and metal housings which are joined at the inlet end to a metallic adapter by means of staking portions of the adapter over the exterior of the valve inlet housing tube. Valves having this type of connection are prone to failure caused by abuse encountered during valve installation and engine maintenance. In the present invention a fluid valve (10) is provided having superior strength at the junction between a plastic inlet (34) and a threaded metallic engine block adapter (14). A portion of the adapter extends into the inlet end of the housing and has a circumferential rib (48) having an outer knurled surface (50) located intermediate and adjacent to a pair of grooves (52, 54). By heating the knurled rib (48), the plastic material of the hollow inlet portion of the valve housing flows into and conforms with the grooves and the knurled rib thereby providing a rigid connection between the valve housing and the adapter.
