In one embodiment, the component is a separate insert configured with a sharp leading edge such that water droplets present in a reactant fluid that pass through an orifice in the component are conveyed away from an unstable formation at the edge to a more stable formation in an adjacent part of the component. In one form, the component is sized to fit within a valve inlet that in turn is placed in a humid reactant flowpath. In this way, when the fuel cell is operated in cold conditions—such as those associated with temperatures at or below the freezing point of water—the water droplets do not freeze in the area around the orifice such that ice-related blockage of the flowpath does not occur.

The aim of the invention is to reduce or eliminate friction problems occurring with time or operation cycles, when using a full scale gate valve.

  • Patent number: 8807158
Abstract: An improved venturi-style eductor apparatus for dispensing chemicals into a motive fluid stream where an eductor body FIG. 3 is manufactured by molding a chemically inert polymer material FIG. 2 around and inside a metallic insert FIG. 1. Opposing ends of the metallic insert may be threaded, flanged, or machined for push-in connection to facilitate mating with a motive fluid source and a dispensing device. By manufacturing an eductor assembly using a single-piece metal insert over-molded with an inert polymer provides improved chemical resistance for aggressive applications and allows improvements in venturi geometry not achievable using traditional machined components. This apparatus reduces manufacturing cost over current state-of-the-art eductor assemblies by using a single molding step to create flow-path geometry in the eductor body while retaining mechanical strength with the metallic insert FIG. 1.

Abstract: The present invention is designed to prevent damage to lined ponds during removal and placement of a suction/discharge hose. The fluid transfer protection sleeve is a conduit with a liquid port on one end and a hose port on the opposing end. The fluid transfer protection sleeve is comprised of an angled section, a vented body, and a solid walled section that are connected to create an interior channel from the hose port to the liquid port. The liquid port is located on the angled section. Upon insertion of the hose into hose port, the liquid is drawn in (or out) through the liquid port and vents, thus drawing (or discharging) water away from the bottom of the pond. Furthermore, the interior channel prevents the hose from coming into contact with liner and thus preventing damage.
