Abstract: A method for determining a kiss point is disclosed. A drive unit having one or more motors with a motor output shaft is provided. One or more actuation profiles are ran and an amount of motor current and motor shaft position data is measured. The data measured is filtered and one or more motor current vs. motor shaft position plots having one or more curves with a high force and high current region are generated. A derivative is calculated over the curves and a slope of the high force and high current region is determined. A relative slope threshold is determined by multiplying the slopes by a predetermined percentage. One or more lines having a slope substantially equal to the relative slope threshold are plotted. The kiss point is determined based on the position of the motor shaft where the derivative of the curves equals the slope of the lines plotted.

  • Patent number: 10989320
Abstract: A check valve formed from a body having inlet and outlet interior chambers with the outlet chamber functioning as a diffuser when assisting in the arrest of reverse water flow. A seat base is positioned between the inlet and outlet chambers with a tubular sleeve for housing a stem having a lip positioned along one end and a threaded opposite end secured within the inlet chamber. A spring fits around the stem and a sphere is secured to the threaded end of the stem for engaging the seat base. Movement of the sphere away from the inlet chamber allows dry polymer to pass when the spring is compressed. Upon loss of force capable of moving the sphere away from the inlet chamber, relaxation of the spring allows the sphere to engage the seat base with an attached grommet before water can flow backwards into the interior chamber.

  • Patent number: 8925574
Abstract: A vent system for an axle of a heavy-duty vehicle includes a check valve and an exhaust tube that is connected to the check valve. The check valve includes a first end that is mounted on the axle, a second end, and a body that is disposed between the first and second ends and is in selective fluid communication with the axle interior. The exhaust tube includes a first end that is mounted on the second end of the check valve, and a second end that is open to atmosphere and is in fluid communication with the check valve body. Using any one of a number of types of configurations for the valve body, the vent system selectively exhausts air from the axle interior to atmosphere to relieve buildups of pressure in the axle, while protecting the integrity of the check valve and preventing contaminants from entering the axle.

  • Patent number: 8511347
Abstract: A system and method for installing and removing a flow restrictor assembly in a shower, while prevents tampering with the flow restriction system thus installed. Tampering is prevented by concealing the flow restrictor assembly behind a shower wall, attached directly to a water supply line. The system further prevents tampering by concealing the tool-hole necessary for its removal behind a flow restrictor disk, so that there are no visible means of removing the flow restrictor assembly. The flow restrictor assembly threads onto a showerhead arm and the flow restrictor assembly with the attached showerhead arm threads directly into the water line. When the showerhead arm is unthreaded, the flow restrictor assembly remains connected to the water line by an external screw thread. The flow restrictor must be removed to reveal the tool-hole which may only then be engaged by a tool for removal.
