The overall size and weight of the regulator are minimized, which allows increased capabilities to the user. A regulator overpressurization port vents behind a conventional safety gauge for safety purposes. Fill, gage, and canister overpressurization rupture ports are interconnected with a fill channel that extends from the canister to the ports without intersecting or interfering with the regulating components within the regulator. The input valve seat face is surrounded by a shallow generally conical surface within an input plenum. The shallow generally conical surface extends at approximately 5 to 15 degrees.Type: GrantFiled: May 5, 2008Date of Patent: May 8, 2012Assignee: YSN Imports, Inc.Inventors: Daniel Colby, Sam Newman, Stanley Gabrel

Patent number: 8037899Abstract: A first check valve has a narrow flow path portion (68) formed between an arcuate portion (46) of the outer periphery (45) of a support member and a second enlarged-diameter portion (11) of a casing. The narrow flow path portion (first portion of an intermediate flow path) is in fluidic communication with a back-pressure chamber (50) defined in the support member at the rear of the top of a valving element through a communicating passage (67) including a gap (66) between the outer periphery of the valving element and the inner periphery of a large-diameter portion (38) and grooves (27) on the rear surface of the top of the valving element. Thus, a low static pressure of fluid flowing through the narrow flow path portion is introduced into the back-pressure chamber to move the valving element by a large differential pressure during the supply of fluid, thereby allowing the valve opening to become larger than in the conventional apparatus and enabling a reduction of pressure losses.Type: GrantFiled: April 30, 2009Date of Patent: October 18, 2011Assignees: Shinshu University, Nippo Valve Company Ltd.Inventors: Masaharu Matsubara, Yuichi Takeda

Patent number: 7975720Abstract: A ball valve cartridge is disclosed. It is especially well suited for freezeless hydrant applications and any other application where it is positioned remotely from a handle or other actuating element. The cartridge contains a ball valve element and an internal stem with a key for rotating the ball valve element between open and closed positions. The stem has rotational stop elements that limit rotational movement of the stem and the ball valve element. In a yard hydrant application, a drain valve can be added to regulate the opening and closing of the drain hole. It has an operational range of a quarter turn or ninety degrees.Type: GrantFiled: March 25, 2009Date of Patent: July 12, 2011Inventor: Scott T. Conway

Patent number: 7967027Abstract: A diverter valve includes a housing and a diverting stem cartridge. The housing has a top and a bottom and a stem cartridge receiving chamber. The housing also has an inlet port proximate the bottom thereof and a plurality of laterally directed outlet ports. Each outlet port directs water to selective alternative uses such as a spout, shower, body spray or the like. The stem cartridge also has an inlet port proximate the bottom and has a plurality of laterally directed outlet ports for selective alignment with the outlet ports of the housing. The inlet ports and outlet ports of said stem cartridge has there-between a stem waterway to allow water to flow from the inlet to said outlets. The cartridge has contained therein at least two checking mechanisms disposed prior to the waterway. The at least two check mechanisms prevents water from the outlet ports from contaminating the water supply.Type: GrantFiled: November 23, 2005Date of Patent: June 28, 2011Inventor: Silvano Breda

Publication number: 20110048561Abstract: A pipe is provided through which a fluid can move without backflow in the absence of a gravity force provided by a downward pitch. This is accomplished by providing within the pipe a series of one-way valves, each having a structure similar to a mitral valve, with a rigid upper flap cooperating with a semi-rigid but flexible lower flap. Fluid pressure upstream of the valve will displace the lower flap enough to allow fluid to accumulate in a reservoir area downstream of the valve and upstream of a ramp structure. When sufficient fluid accumulates in the reservoir area, it overflows the ramp structure and proceeds to the next one-way valve, and the process is repeated.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 2, 2009Publication date: March 3, 2011Inventor: Stacey L.
