Abstract: A lining material obtained by rolling a lining material sheet into a tubular form is installed in a conduit with both ends of the lining material sheet in its circumferential direction circumferentially overlapping each other. In this process, the lining material is installed so that, in a bending portion of a conduit, an overlapping portion where the both ends of the lining material sheet overlap each other faces toward an outer curvature side of the bending portion. Then, the diameter of the lining material installed in the conduit is expanded with the both ends of the lining material sheet circumferentially slid on each other. This facilitates inflation of a portion of the lining material which portion faces toward the outer curvature side in the bending portion, thereby decreasing a gap between the lining material and an inner surface of the bending portion.

  • Patent number: 8950437
Abstract: An apparatus includes one or more sealing elements to be transported along a duct by the flow of fluid therein at an internal pressure and to be drawn to a leak by the pressure differential resulting from a reduced pressure associated with the locality of that leak. Each sealing element has a body formed from an elastic material to have one or more impermeable bubbles filled with gas so that the sealing element has a volume which varies resiliently according to the change in volume of the bubble(s) in response to externally applied pressure. The product of the volume of the bubble(s) and the pressure of the gas therein is selected to provide a sealing element having a transport volume at the internal pressure which is appropriate to enter a leak and which, in response to the reduced pressure associated with the locality of that leak, is capable of increasing in volume from the transport volume sufficiently to seal that leak.

Abstract: A rehabilitation pipe is assembled inside an existing pipe using integrally formed plastic segments each comprising an inner surface plate, side and end plates. The segments are in part or all divided in the pipe-length direction to provide a variable-width segment comprising two segment halves that are moved relative to each other in the pipe-length direction to make the width of the segment in the pipe-length direction variable. A filler is injected into a space between the rehabilitation pipe and the existing pipe to provide a composite pipe. A falsework temporarily supports the rehabilitation pipe inside the existing pipe until the filler hardens. A shape-holing member is disposed circumferentially in part or all over the inner surface of the rehabilitation pipe so as to be in contact with the inner surface plate of the variable-width segment. • Patent number: 8925590
Abstract: The pipeline leak detection and repair device is an autonomous machine that travels through a pipeline to detect very small leaks therein. The device also repairs those leaks with an on-board repair component. The repair occurs nearly simultaneously with the leak detection as the device passes the leak. The device includes a plurality of thin, flexible sensor leaves in a radial array. The leaves are positioned to place them nearly in contact with the inner surface of the pipe wall. Each leaf includes two sensors installed on its opposite surfaces. Flexure of the leaf due to changes in pressure gradient as the leaf passes a leak results in signals from the sensors being sent to an onboard processor. The processor determines the position of the affected leaf, and rotates a repair component to apply a pressure-sensitive tape patch over the leak as the repair component passes the leak.

Abstract: The present invention is directed to methods for repairing pipes or pipe junctions. The methods include providing a launcher device having a bladder and a liner impregnated with a material capable of curing and hardening. The bladder includes a first end, a closed second end, and an opening proximal the closed second end. A portion of the bladder is positioned within the launcher device, a rope or a line is connected to the liner, and the rope or line is threaded through the opening in the bladder. The rope or the line is pulled until the liner is at least partially within the bladder, and the rope or line is removed. The pipe is repaired by positioning the liner against the wall of a pipe, and allowing a material capable of curing and hardening to cure and harden.

Abstract: System for pipeline rehabilitation. The system includes repairing a leak in a pipe using a pair of substantially semi-cylindrical parts connected through a compliant joint. When the parts are compressed, the semi-cylindrical parts form a cylinder whose outside diameter is less than the inside diameter of a pipe with a defect thereby allowing the cylinder to be inserted into the pipe at a location of a leak. Once in place, the parts engage the inside surface of the pipe when the compression is released thereby to seal the leak.

Abstract: The pipe access device is comprised of a curved plate adapted to engage an underground pipe along an arc of the outer surface of the pipe, and a boss extending upwardly from the curved plate about an aperture in the curved plate. The curved plate extends along an arc of the outer surface of the curved plate that corresponds to a central angle of the pipe less than or equal to 180°. The curved plate includes a concave surface with a radius of curvature less than a radius of curvature of the outer surface of the pipe so as to bias the curved plate against the outer surface of the pipe when the curved plate is flexed to engage the pipe. The pipe access device is for use in providing access to the buried pipe that requires minimal excavation and disruption of the soil.

  • Patent number: 8747105
Abstract: An insert tube is used for the repair or improvement of a pre-heating tube for air arranged in an exhaust gas pathway of a fuel burner. A pre-determined radial gap exists between the outer surface of the insert tube and the inner surface of the pre-heating tube for air such that the insert tube can be slid into the pre-heating tube for air. The insert tube is provided in the vicinity of each end with at least one groove that runs around its circumference. In the groove there is arranged at least one sealing ring of an elastic material. The sealing ring mounted in the groove has an external diameter that exceeds the internal diameter of the preheating tube for air. The sealing ring forms a seal against the inner surface of the pre-heating tube for air and prevents leakage through the sealing ring.
