An actuator is connected to a movable holding element for moving the element to a holding position and a non-holding position. In the holding position the element holds the shed forming device at a fixed height. A stop is connected to the element for supporting the holding element when it is in the holding position. Because of this the holding element is held on the stop by the shed forming mechanism. • Patent number: 5794665
Abstract: A Jacquard machine for the positive lifting and lowering of the warp threads in a weaving machine, without the employment of harness cords and a method of operating the Jacquard machine. The Jacquard machine includes for each of a hook (6) a bistable element. The bistable element is formed as an elastically deformable rod (1) or an elastically deformable leaf spring. Periodically, a mechanical deformation loading acts on the bistable element which takes the bistable element into one of two stable states in dependence upon a slight initial deflection. An initialization device (8) brings about a slight deflection of the bistable element before the action of the mechanical deformation loading, in view of which it is ensured that the bistable element takes up a particular one of its two stable states.

  • Patent number: 5309952
Abstract: A shedding device as provided for textile machines which includes oppositely movable lifting blades (41) and pulling elements (42) which are reciprocally movable between a lower shed position and an upper shed position and which are interconnected in pairs by a connecting member (1). The connecting member (1) is connected through a pulley block (2) to a heddle (7) and a retention device (12) is located at a lower shed position and between the pulling elements (42) to control the latter in accordance with the particular pattern program. The insertion device (12) has a wedge-shaped base (17) including a base edge (17a) directed toward the harness string (6). Magnetic pull areas (23, 24) are formed at inclined surfaces (20, 21) of the wedge-shape base (17) and through an associated air gap (A) progressive movement of the coupling portion (46) of each pulling element (42) is effected upon magnet energization or coupling/uncoupling operations at low forces and under relatively quiet operation.

  • Patent number: 5309953
Abstract: A shed-forming device in a weaving loom which includes spaced partitions to which are mounted retention hooks controlled by electro-magnets. The electro-magnets are encased in a substantially air-tight manner between adjacent partitions. In the preferred embodiment, oppositely oriented flanges extend from the borders of each partition so as to be engagable with the flanges of adjacent partitions when the partitions are mounted in assembled relationship to thereby form substantially air-tight enclosures.

  • Patent number: 5275211
Abstract: An electromagnetically activated jacquard control arrangement comprising a plurality of control elements each combined with a lifter element (16) and each provided with an electromagnet (19) with an armature (21). There is further provided a lifter plate (7) which, in each working cycle, lifts the lifter element (16) out of a rest position into a working position and which thereafter is again lowered so that the lifter element, in dependence upon the activation condition of the electromagnet, remains in the working position or returns to the rest position. Every lifter element (16) comprises a hook (26) which operates together with a counterhook held in a predetermined elevation. Each armature (21) is rotatably mounted on an axis (24) and by its swinging movement, displaces the counterhook into or out of the path of the lifter element hook. The lifter plate (7) can lift the lifter element beyond the working position into a predetermined zone.

Abstract: A high-speed rotary dobby key mover mechanism having a main crank arm in which two keying levers that have the same arm ratio are mounted for pivotal movement on a cam in opposing positions. The adjacent ends of the keying levers cooperate with a key, while the free other ends of the key levers, which are diametrically opposite about and at the same distance from the axis of the dobby drive shaft for the dobby cooperate alternately with a single control device which is located on only one side of the main crank arm. The control device is regulated, moreover, by a logic unit.

  • Patent number: 5183081
Abstract: A shed formation apparatus which has increased flexibility and speed and finds particular application in automated reweaving of the ends of a fabric. The apparatus is generally comprised of a plurality of heddles which will control yarn movement during the shed formation. Each of the heddles has a yarn mail and at least one control lead. Each control lead is under the influence of a controller - stopper mechanism which controls heddle movement and position. The actuation of the stopping mechanism is controlled by a shed formation repeat pattern output device which determines the position of the heddle and the selection of the stopping mechanism in accordance with the repeat pattern.

  • Patent number: 5176186
Abstract: A heald control system including a heald rod which is reciprocated along its longitudinal axis, the heald rod having a resiliently deflectable body portion formed from a magnetically attractable material. A retention latch formation on the body portion, during reciprocation of the heald rod, is moved along a path of travel between first and second limits of reciprocal movement. The path has a first zone of movement wherein the body portion normally travels in an undeflected position, and a second zone of movement wherein the body portion travels in a deflected position. A permanent magnet means is operable as the body portion enters the second zone to cause the body portion to move from the undeflected position to the deflected position. A fixed latch is located to one side of the first zone of the path of travel to engage the latch formation on the body portion only when the body portion is in its deflected position as it travels in the first zone.

  • Patent number: 5174342
Abstract: A device for driving the ring levers that control the keys of a high-speed rotary dobby. In the device, a metal rocker armature is hinged to each lever along the axis of symmetry of the device. The axis passes through the fulcrum about which the levers rock. The levers have at their lower ends teeth that cooperate with corresponding grooves in two digging tracks that move with a reciprocating motion and in mutual opposition perpendicular to the axis of symmetry. The upper rocker armature surface, moreover, cooperates with one of two overlying electromagnets that are arranged symmetrically about the axis of symmetry.

  • Patent number: 5029618
Abstract: A control device for textile machines, in particular dobbies, has two magnet yokes with associated permanent magnets and an electromagnet, as well as an appropriately built magnet armature held in a first or second end position by the permanent magnet flux. When a current control pulse is applied to the electromagnet, however, the armature suddenly moves to the opposite end position, where it is again held until the next current control pulse moves it to the other end position. Only a very short current pulse is necessary to make the magnet armature change position. The resulting energy impulse is very intense and allows the holding and switching mechanical elements of dobbies to be directly controlled.
