  • Patent number: 5007464
Abstract: An electromagnetic device is provided for use, for example, as a yarn brake, a rely nozzle valve, a weft yarn stretching nozzle and the like. The electromagnetic device has a pole piece associated with a winding connectable to an electric line. A spring strip is fixedly mounted at one end and projects over a curved abutment surface on the pole piece. In the absence of a magnetic field, the spring strip is disposed in spaced relation to the abutment surface. When a magnetic field builds up in the winding and the pole piece, the free end portion of the strip engages with the abutment surface of the pole piece along an increasing length, for example, to brake a yarn therebetween and, as the magnetic field intensifies, more and more zones of the spring strip engage the pole piece. Consequently, the initial speeds at which the strip moves at engagement and upon cessation of energization of the winding are relatively high.

  • Patent number: 4969490
Abstract: A shed-forming device for a textile machine which includes lift blades (e.g., 3) arranged to hookingly engage or slidably contact an associated hooking engagement element (e.g., 4) such that the hooking engagement element is either lifted into an upper shed position to effect a shed change or alternatively, is pivoted into an arrested lower shed position by the attractive force of an associated electromagnet (e.g., 5). The hooking engagement elements are arranged in pairs by flexible connecting elements (e.g., 9) which form a loop into which is disposed a roller (e.g., 12) operatively attached to a shed such as a harness (e.g., 13). A pulling force generated by the movement of the roller and harness serves to pivot or position the hooking engagement element for cooperation with the lift blades and accordingly, facilitates changing of the harness.

  • Patent number: 4702286
Abstract: This invention relates to the shed forming devices in weaving looms wherein each of the retaining hooks is in the form of an element which is pivotable about a horizontal pin with each element provided with a tail portion which is subjected to the reaction of a compression spring so that the head portion thereof lies in a rest position above the toe of a corresponding mobile hook. When the mobile hook causes a retaining hook to pivot so that its nose or head is in an outer position with respect to the toe, an electromagnet of the device may be selectively activated to retain the retaining hook in this outer position to thereby prevent the mobile hook from being restrained by the retaining hook.

  • Patent number: 4480664
Abstract: There is provided an electromagnetically controllable coupling means between the drive shaft and a cam element of a textile machine. A latch mounted on the cam element and rotatable with it is biasable by a spring to interact with grooves in said drive shaft. Two rocker arms rotatable about fixed axes are each provided with a strikers and are swingable back and forth between a first position in which said striker holds the latch out of interaction with the grooves and a second position in which the latch is released in order to interact with said grooves. A pair of anchors influenced by program directed electromagnets serve to hold the said rocker arms in the first position. A stopping arrangement prevents further rotation of the cam means when the latch moves from one into the other of the aforementioned rotation positions. Each anchor attached to the appropriate arm is in the first position of the rocker arm presented proximate to the pole face of its appropriate electromagnet.
