  • Patent number: 5294405
Abstract: A valve for use in a pipette gun for selectively providing different ranges of flow rates through a pipette cooperating with the pipette gun. The valve has a predetermined number of discrete settings, each of which provides a range of fluid flow rates between zero and a different maximum flow rate. The operator controls the flow rate by depressing the gun trigger a selected distance. To change the flow rate setting, the operator simply rotates the gun trigger to a desired setting. The present valve also eliminates the "piston effect" of prior art valve elements by isolating the pipette chamber while the valve element operably slides in and out of engagement with a port thereby connecting the pipette with a fluid source either under pressure or at a vacuum.

  • Patent number: 5217050
Abstract: Some paste or liquid products, used as cosmetics and medicines, for example, have to be protected from contact with air. Methods have been developed for vacuum packaging them. These methods are more concerned with eliminating air that may remain in the packaging filled with the product at the time the latter is closed (by welding, by sealed fixing of a dispensing valve, etc). No special precautions are taken during filling of the packaging which is carried out in air and inevitably causes unwanted air bubbles to be trapped. The present method avoids any inclusion of air in the product. The packaging, which consists of a variable volume reservoir, is filled while in its maximum content configuration in an hermetically sealed enclosure that is evacuated. The enclosure is formed by a bucket receiving the reservoir and to which a bell fits in a sealed way. The bell is connected to a system of vacuum pumps and to a store of the product.

  • Patent number: 4984712
Abstract: It is advantageous for a substance in the form of a liquid or a paste to be packaged under pressure and in the absence of any air inside a receptacle (1) which is hermetically closed by a valve (2) for the purpose of dispensing the substance. A convenient way of putting the substance under pressure therefore consists in using a resilient receptacle (1) which is prior deformed so that its walls (10) seek to return to their natural shape (in dashed lines) and exert a force on the substance. The present invention uses mechanical means for imparting said deformation. As a result, the receptacle (1) can be filled with substance at atmospheric pressure. The receptacle is constituted by a single envelope whose shape is of an appearance suitable for the market for this type of dispenser and is adapted to easy manipulation in the hand. Finally, if the dispenser is provided with a precompression pump type valve (2) up to 95% of the substance initially contained in the receptacle (1) can be dispensed.
