Including Slicing, Slitting, Chipping, Or Planing Patents (Class 144/369)
  • Patent number: 4473099
Abstract: A method of drying a veneer sheet is provided. The method comprises the steps of tenderizing, compressing, and drying a veneer sheet. The compressing and drying steps are performed at the same time. The tenderizing step is preferably performed before the above two steps but may be done thereafter or at the same time. An apparatus for performing the method is also disclosed. The apparatus comprises tenderizing means, deceleration transfer means, and heating means. The deceleration and the heating means are combined into one section. A plurality of rollers are used as deceleration transfer means.

  • Patent number: 4440203
Abstract: An arrangement for feeding blocks of timber into a cutting machine has a stationary rear pair of lateral guide rollers immediately in front of the saw blades, a laterally displaceable front pair of lateral guide rollers and a middle lateral guide device, which may be a pair of lateral guide rollers. The middle lateral guide device is at half the distance between the front and the rear pair of lateral guide rollers. The front pair of lateral guide rollers is arranged on a support arm which can swing on a swivel point which is in front of the rear pair of lateral guide rollers at a distance of six tenths of a distance between the front and rear pair of lateral guide rollers. The arrangement is suitable for curved sawing both in sawing machines and in reducing and reducing sawing machines.

  • Patent number: 4422488
Abstract: The machine described in this disclosure serves to produce pairs of drawer sides from a panel, the thickness of which is slightly more than twice the thickness of one drawer-side; a first arrangement of saws cuts the panel to a predetermined drawer-side height; while a second arrangement of saws cuts off the panels to a predetermined drawer-side length; by means of conveyors, the panels are then passed to a band-saw which slits each panel, through its thickness, into two boards of substantially equal dimensions; two tables each receive a board laid flat, the lower surface of each board being planed by a series of cutters, the sides being machined by a second series of cutters, and the upper surface being planed and grooved by a third series of cutters; the boards are then brought together on a machining table where horizontal and vertical dovetailing heads form a male dove-tail at the end of the drawer-side and a female dove-tail on the upper surface of the drawer-side.

  • Patent number: 4407345
Abstract: A veneer lathe provided with a cord embedding knife. The cord embedding knife has an edge perpendicular to the veneer cutting knife of the veneer lathe. The cord embedding knife cuts into a log and forms an elongated cut therein to place a length of cord therein. At the same time, the lathe is provided with means for restraining the said length of cord firmly in the elongated cut until it releases the cord downstream of the edge of the veneer cutting knife. This structure ensures that the elongated cut is formed without causing a buckling of the veneer sheet or the like while the cord embedded in the elongated cut in the veneer sheet cut off from the log is firmly retained in the cut and prevented from slipping out of the cut.
