Abstract: The present disclosure pertains to systems and methods for mapping an image to a three-dimensional pattern of relief features on a surface of an object for 3D printing. In some examples, a system may determine a pattern of relief features, including debossed relief features and/or embossed relief features, to create a shading pattern on the surface of 3D printed object that approximates the continuous halftones of an image.

Abstract: In order to prolong the usage of wood one needs to prevent the growth of rot and fungi. The most common substances used today are not environmentally friendly and they need to be replaced by more environmentally friendly options. Water glass or sodium silicate has been known for a long time having properties which give the wood resistance to rot and fungi and in addition also fire retardant properties. The present invention discloses a method for treatment of wood to improve the flame retardant properties and also the resistance to rot, fungus, mold and insects of a wooden material. The wood treatment method of the invention comprises the steps of providing a wooden material and providing water based formulation which is stable in room temperature or in temperatures ranging from 15-35° C.

Abstract: A method of manufacturing a hollow core door is disclosed, as well as a corresponding hollow core door. The method includes the steps of providing a solid flat door skin, moisturizing the flat skin, applying a conditioning resin thereto, pre-heating the flat door skin, and thereafter pressing the flat door skin between a pair of heated platens in a press in order to reform the flat skin into a molded skin including a plurality of panels defined therein. The press continuously closes in order to reform the flat skin into the molded skin, with the rate of press closure being a function of the determined hardness of the flat skin to be reformed. The resulting door skins have an improved bond strength, and are efficiently manufactured.

Abstract: The present invention relates to the technical filed of wood processing, in particular to the method for strengthening the wood surface, the profiles and the solid wood flooring of the same. The density of the surface-strengthened solid wood profiles are 300˜580 Kg/m3, the reinforced surface is 1˜5 mm thick, the hardness of the paint film of the reinforced surface is 2H˜8H, the overall moisture content of the profiles are 6˜9%. The hardness of the paint film on the reinforced surface of the inventive solid wood profiles is higher, and the overall moisture content is stable, which is suitable for wider range of climate conditions.
Abstract: The foundation includes an assembly of wooden components which interconnect to form an enclosed rectangular configuration for supporting a mattress. At each corner of the assembly are two posts which are interconnected by dowels or by a tongue and groove. The dowels and the mouths of the openings in which they are accommodated are bevelled for facilitating the insertion of the dowels into the openings should they be misaligned. The tongues and grooves are also bevelled for the same reason. The wooden components are subject to compressive forces and to a heat treatment before being assembled into the foundation.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a type of wood section material manufacturing method, especially with respect to soft wood section material and its manufacturing method. It belongs to wood processing field. This invention is achieved by the following technical plans: a type of wood section material manufacturing method includes the following steps: (1) wood preparation; (2) drying; (3) Polishing; (4) Hot pressing, which is to use two hot pressing boards with 140-200° C. to firmly press two surfaces of panel blank material; (5) Pre-carbonization, which pre-carbonize the panel blank material under 160° C. and 200° C.; (6) Carbonization, which carbonize the panel blank material between 200° C. and 225° C.; (7) Cooling; and (8) Moisture content control. This invention is particularly suitable to make wooden floor boards and office furniture.
Abstract: A method of forming a panel having a core of a wood material or wood material/plastic mixture and a top side and an underside is provided. The method includes forming a profile corresponding to one another on at least a first side edge and a second side edge lying opposite one another. The method further includes forming a hook connection with an upper locking section having a hook element and a lower locking section having a hook element which effects the locking in the horizontal direction, and forming at least one spring element movable in the horizontal direction which effects the locking in the vertical direction (V). The at least one spring element is free in the direction of the first side edge lying opposite by an essentially vertical slot. In the method of manufacturing, the panel is moved at a constant speed when the essentially vertical slot is formed.

Abstract: A method of forming a board suitable for use as container flooring uses bamboo and fast-growth low-density wood. The method includes the step of overlaying thin layers of high-density bamboo composites on surfaces of a core layer which can be the composite of wood veneer and wood strand-based composite, or wood veneer and bamboo stripe sheet composite. The benefits of bamboo and wood materials are combined to produce a bamboo-wood composite board having sufficient mechanical and physical strength and durability for use as container flooring.

Abstract: Woodworking machines and safety methods for use with those machines are disclosed. The machines include a detection system adapted to detect one or more dangerous conditions and a reaction system associated with the detection system. The reaction system can include an explosive to trigger the system, and also can be configured to retract a cutting tool at least partially away from a cutting region upon detection of a dangerous condition by the detection system.

The feed chute assembly comprises a moveable element mounted so as to be dynamically moveable between a first position and a second position. The feed chute assembly may include a downwardly angled feed chute and a redirecting wall disposed downstream thereof. The moveable element may be all or part of either or both of the main chute and the redirecting wall. Wood chips are directed toward the rotating drum at a rotational position that varies depending on the position of the moveable element. The wood chips fed to the drum are flung therefrom in a pattern that varies in a side view along the axis depending on the position of the element. There may be multiple moveable elements.

Abstract: A novel tree trimming system includes a crane which lifts a wood working implement and a tree trimmer together over obstacles if necessary to a location where a tree is to trimmed. The tree trimmer may cut limbs and feed them directly into the wood working implement that is mounted just beneath him or may drop them to the ground or fasten them to holders that have been lifted with the tree trimmer by the crane. On the ground, a cart which may be motor driven by hydraulic motors or manually moved or pulled by another vehicle can be retracted to fit through ordinary garden gates. The retraction may include moving the wheels or tracker treads of the cart together and moving the hydraulic motor outside of the space between tractor treads so that the tractor treads may be moved closer together. Moreover, side members may be folded upwardly to compress material on the top of the cart and extensions moved in place at the front and end of the cart to increase load carrying capacity.
Abstract: A structures and process incorporates the efficient use of the annularly shaped bamboo plant to make planar shaped slats or louvers. Structures include a double rank of bamboo strips, an offset series of bamboo strips, an optional interstitial support, a single rank of bamboo strips attached to a thin wood expanse, a double thin wood expanse sandwiching a single rank of bamboo strips and a double rank of trapezoidal shaped series of bamboo strips. Steps for production include cutting a bamboo culm into strips, introduction to water for relaxing, pressing, drying, shaping, and attaching the strips adjacent each other to create a formed slat, and performing finishing shaping of the formed slat.

Abstract: The present invention 10 discloses a device for singulating individual logs from groups of logs for linear or transverse processing. The present invention discloses a log singulator having a fully rotatable lifter arm member, i.e., 360 degrees rotatable, which is used to singulate logs from groups of logs. The rotatable axle of the lifter arm may be located above the upstream “V” of the log cradle member. Furthermore, the lifter arm of the present invention will positively push the logs over the top point of the log cradle because it is rounded at the top point, thereby allowing the tip of lifter arm to remain in contact with the log. Lifter arms with 1 to 4 lifter arm tips are disclosed.
Abstract: A method and apparatus for steering saw blades which includes an arbor rotatable about a rotation axis. Saw blades are mounted on the arbor in such a manner that the saw blades rotate with the arbor and are angularly adjustable in relation to the rotation axis of the arbor. A rigid guide assembly is provided having a plurality of guides each of which accommodate one the saw blades, such that movement of the guide assembly angularly adjusts the saw blades in unison. A leading edge of each of the saw blades is positioned along a common alignment plane. A support is provided for the guide assembly. The support has an underlying pivot axis spaced from and substantially perpendicular to the rotational axis of the arbor. This pivot axis is on the alignment plane such that the leading edge of each of the saw blades remain positioned along the alignment plane as the guide assembly is pivoted to move the guide assembly to alter the angular positioning of the saw blades.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for steering saw blades which includes an arbor rotatable about a rotation axis. Saw blades are mounted on the arbor in such a manner that the saw blades rotate with the arbor and are angularly adjustable in relation to the rotation axis of the arbor. A rigid guide assembly is provided having a plurality of guides each of which accommodate one the saw blades, such that movement of the guide assembly angularly adjusts the saw blades in unison. A leading edge of each of the saw blades is positioned along a common alignment plane. A support is provided for the guide assembly. The support has an underlying pivot axis spaced from and substantially perpendicular to the rotational axis of the arbor. This pivot axis is on the alignment plane such that the leading edge of each of the saw blades remain positioned along the alignment plane as the guide assembly is pivoted to move the guide assembly to alter the angular positioning of the saw blades.

Abstract: A method of manufacturing a thermoplastic composite wood material. First, a first quantity of a first wood component of wood chips having long axes and a first size range is mixed with a second quantity of a second wood component of wood particles having a second size and a third quantity of a first thermoplastic polymer component of molten thermoplastic polymer until substantially all of the wood chips and the wood particles are encapsulated by the thermoplastic polymer. The second size range is distinct from the first size range and has substantially smaller values than the first size range. Next, the long axes of the wood chips of the first wood component are oriented such that they are substantially parallel to a predetermined plane.
Abstract: The present invention provides a method of manufacturing wood elements for musical instruments that have vibration characteristics similar to those of natural woods that are used for musical instruments. The method comprises a laminating step in which a resin is coated onto or is impregnated into a plurality of wooden plate units, fiber directions of the wooden plate units are aligned, and the wooden plate units are stacked and are subjected to thermal pressing so as to be bonded together and produce a laminated body, wherein the thermal pressing is conducted by controlling a pressure so that a density of the laminated body is in a range from 0.8 to 1.4 g/cm3.
Abstract: A tree trimming apparatus is provided for preparing a tree, such as a Christmas tree, for attachment to a tree stand. The tree trimming apparatus includes a raised platform supported by a plurality of legs. The platform also includes an opening for receiving the trunk of a tree. Below the platform is positioned a jaws assembly for affixing the tree in place. Meanwhile, the tree trimming apparatus includes a saw assembly for severing the base of the tree, and a drill assembly for drilling a recess into the bottom of the tree for receipt of the spike of a tree stand.
Abstract: Wood such as spruce, maple, and hornbeam are retained in high pressure steam of pressure 0.2 to 1.6 MPa at 120 to 200° C. for 1 to 60 minutes, and subsequently, cooled and dried to obtain a modified wood having superior acoustic properties and old wood-like appearance due to a change to a deep color tone. Since the conventional modification methods by chemical treatment using chemicals such as resorcin and formaldehyde are not used, the treatment steps are simple and a modified wood used as a material for musical instruments is obtained at low cost.
Abstract: A jig having a guide block and a repositionable clamp for use with a saw for hand cutting tails and pins on the ends of boards to form a dovetail joint. The guide block has four planar sides that are joined to form a substantially square tube, the ends of which define guide faces that form an oblique angle with any plane orthogonal to the planar side of the guide block. A pair of magnets within the body of the guide block, each covered by a low friction pad firmly engage the saw and keep it in contact with the guide faces throughout the cutting operation. The guide block also has two orthogonal wing surfaces for positioning the guide block against a face of a board to orient the guide faces either: (a) square to the end of the board and at an angle to its faces, or (b) square to its faces and at an angle to the end of the board. The repositionable clamp is secured to the guide block for clamping it to the board in either of the two alternative positions.

The clips are arranged in spring regions like lugs in the plate-like indicia carrying body, and such regions are for instance defined by slots in the indicia carrying body. This means that such indicia carrying elements may be reliably clipped onto the standard head of an applicator hammer without there being any danger of the clips breaking off.
Abstract: An apparatus to support a hand held motorized tool in an inverted position that allows easy removal of the tool for hand held purposes. The apparatus is defined by a receiver in a frame and an opening for removal of the tool. A lid may further stabilize the tool. Abstract: The present invention is for a log made from wastes from forestry and the like material. The invention also is for means and method for the production of such log. The log comprises a sheath which surrounds the compressed forestry wastes of the log. A log according to the invention is produced by that forestry wastes is compressed. The goods are fed to a delimited space which corresponds to the outer shape of the log. In this space the goods are rotated around the lengthwise axis of the log to be during compression after which a holding, moisture releasing sheath is applied during rotation. In the compriming engine the log is formed inside the space which is defined by the compression rolls and the side walls including their movable side wall parts.

Abstract: A method for making a wooden blind slat includes a first step of cutting a tree trunk of a length into a plurality of rectangular slices, which are properly smoothed by a dressing tool before they are randomly joined together by an adhesive to form a rectangular board. The rectangular board is sliced in the direction perpendicular to the longitudinal surfaces of the rectangular slices into a plurality of wooden blind slats, which are smoothed again before being covered with a coat. The coated blind slats are finally dried by baking.
Abstract: The anti-splitting device of the present invention has a central-web portion and a pair of end web portions, which are joined adjacent to their midpoints to opposite ends of the central web portion to provide the device with generally I-shaped cross-sectional configurations. The web portions have first side edges tapered to define a cutting edge and second side edges serving to define a planar driven surface disposed parallel to the cutting edge. Cutting felled trees at cutting points into a plurality of segments which, naturally, are tapered, each segment having a length, a larger diameter end and a smaller diameter end, the length being in a range of random lengths such that the larger end diameter is in a range of 0.2 to 2.0 inches larger than the smaller end diameter, with 0.2 inch preferred;
2. selecting from the plurality of segments cut from one or more trees, a plurality of groups of segments which have smaller end diameters no more than ½ inch different;
3. joining segments from each group end-to-end to form reconstituted logs of optimum lengths for processing into wooden structural units.
In one modification of the basic method, flawed portions are removed from the logs prior to cutting them into segments.
