  • Patent number: 5110375
Abstract: An expandable baton is constructed of heat treatable alloy steel and is formed according to a method which provides both ease of workability of the component materials and strength for the resultant baton. The disclosed method comprises the steps of first forming the sections from heat treatable alloy steel, then annealing the baton components to soften them, then forming the components into the desired shapes, and finally hardening the components. The resulting baton provides the strength and reliability required in such a device.
