Abstract: A capacitive distance sensor is provided. The distance sensor includes a sensor element having an electrically conductive, elongated, flat sensor area which in turn contains a number of holes. The sensor area is completely surrounded by an electrically non-conductive insulating body, with the result that the insulating body completely covers the edge regions of the holes. The sensor element is produced, in particular, by first of all making the holes in the sensor area. In a subsequent step, the sensor area is completely encased by the insulating body which also completely fills the holes in the sensor area.

Abstract: A garbage bin cover is disclosed. The cover includes a flexible fabric tube having opposite open top and bottom ends and a middle portion which are dimensioned to fit snuggly over a garbage bin. A pair of elongated zippers is provided on opposite sides of the cover, the zippers extend parallel to each other upwardly from the bottom end such that the zippers open from the bottom end. An elongated pouch containing a drawstring is formed at the upper end of the tube. A separate lid cover is provided with consists of a pouch dimensioned to fit snugly over a garbage bin lid.

Abstract: This shortcoming of wheeled insulated coolers is addressed in this disclosure. The cargo bag for an insulated cooler is a harness and a pack that is adapted for use with a wheeled insulated cooler. The cargo bag for an insulated cooler is attached to the wheeled insulated cooler using the harness such that the pack is attached to the wheeled insulated cooler and can be carried on the wheeled insulated cooler while the wheeled insulated cooler is transported to an event location. The cargo bag for an insulated cooler comprises a container and a plurality of straps.

Abstract: A sensor array for detecting the approach and movement gestures of a user at a motor vehicle includes a capacitive sensor array and at least one control device that is coupled to the sensor array and detects a change in the capacitance of the sensor array. The sensor array includes at least two sensor electrode arrays which are arranged at spatially offset positions on the motor vehicle. The sensor electrodes are configured as elongate electrode arrays and are arranged with the same spatial orientation. The control and evaluation device is designed for cyclical activation and evaluation of the sensor electrodes with changeable, electrode-specific, different cycle rates.

Abstract: A piece of mechanized surgical equipment is provided, which includes an instrument holder having an element for receiving and retaining a surgical instrument for mechanized use. Also provided is a surgical instrument for mechanized use and configured to be mounted on the instrument holder. The element for receiving and retaining is mobile between an unlocking position, in which the element enables insertion of the instrument into the instrument holder or withdrawal thereof, and a locking position, in which the element prevents the withdrawal of the instrument from the instrument holder. Furthermore, the equipment includes a case in which an active blade of the instrument can be removably housed, the case having an engaging element for engaging with the receiving and retaining element so as to cause the element to move from the unlocking position to the locking position, or vice versa.

Abstract: A versatile barrier within a vehicle improves safety while transporting pets. The versatility of the barrier applies to both its positioning and orientation within a single vehicle and its utilization in different types of vehicles. The barrier can be utilized vertically or horizontally, or some combination thereof, to confine a pet to an area in the vehicle away from the driver. Multiple attachment points allow the barrier to be adjusted to the shape necessary to create such separation. The multiple attachment points—on the barrier's perimeter and/or interior—create versatility and adjustability with respect to utilizing the barrier in various types of vehicles and creating multiple possible configurations within a single vehicle. Similarly, the combination of possible materials used for modes of attachment creates a barrier that can be utilized not only in various types of vehicles but also in multiple configurations within a single vehicle.

Abstract: Cap and cleaning devices antiseptically maintain patient fluid line access valves to minimize the risk of infection via catheters. The devices have a cap that may contain a dry pad impregnated with an antimicrobial agent. The cap covers the access portion of the access valve when not in use. The devices have a hood that contains a wet pad impregnated with a cleaning solution and, optionally, an antimicrobial agent. The wet pad cleans the access portion of the access valve prior to and optionally, after the access valve is utilized to access the patient fluid line.

Abstract: A removable sleeve that encloses and protects the neck of a fretted musical instrument is provided. The bottom edge of the sleeve can be tightened about the neck of the fretted musical instrument with a closure to form a discrete environment inside the sleeve. The sleeve has one or more chutes on the inside of the sleeve into which a humidifying device can be inserted to impart and regulate the humidity level inside the sleeve. The control of humidity prevents damage to the neck of the musical instrument, such as cracking or warping, as well as loosening of the frets. A method for using the sleeve to protect and to control humidity levels around the neck of a fretted musical instrument or of other wood structures is also provided.

Abstract: A covering system includes a tarp made of an elastic membrane and a plurality of tarp fastening hooks. The fastening hooks allow the elastic membrane to be stretched over valuables and affixed to environmental anchors so that creases and puddle-enabling pockets in the membrane are eliminated. The fastening hooks clamp onto the elastic membrane and hook onto the environmental anchors to cause tension in the membrane. The clamping forces of the tarp fasteners are inherently increased in proportion to the tension in the clamped membrane.

Each corner is folded upon and attached to the body and each edge is folded upon and attached to both the body and two folded corners. The water sensor detects the presence of water on the tarp body and generates an electrical signal indicating the presence of water on the tarp body. A controller is in communication with the water sensor and the air pump. In response to receiving the electrical signal from the water sensor, the controller causes the air pump to inflate the bladder.

Abstract: Protective covers for a laptop computer that are configured to prevent unintended access to the keyboard of the laptop. The protective cover is configured to physically block the keyboard from inadvertent engagement. The protective cover protects laptop computer keyboards from damaged by spilling fluids, food or other objects onto the keyboard. The laptop protective cover is easily removable by the user for access to the keyboard and may include one or more straps for securing the cover to the laptop base. Abstract: Blankets adapted for concealing gifts and methods of using such blankets. The disclosed blankets may be used to conceal gifts to eliminate wasted time and resources commonly utilized to wrap gifts using wrapping paper. Gifts may be placed on a surface and covered with the blankets to conceal the gifts from the gift recipient. The blankets may include features such as a mechanism to secure them in place over the gifts, and well as a closeable opening to access the space underneath the blanket for adding or removing gifts from underneath the blanket.

The fastener comprises a body fabricated from a resilient material and is attached near one of the corners. A plurality of coterminous radially extending slits are formed in a face of the body and define the edges of a plurality of pivotable flaps and an opening for receiving the other corners of the sheet. The flaps comprises a living hinge which permit each of the flaps to pivot. The flaps increase in thickness from the living hinge to the edge of the flap. The three flaps simulate the appearance of a cuboidal gift box.

Abstract: A fiberboard sheet is provided comprising a surface protector with a plurality of embedded creases wherein each of the creases can be folded in order to position a portion of the fiberboard sheet horizontally and another portion of the fiberboard sheet vertically. The fiberboard surface protector provides for quick and easy folding of the fiberboard sheet, along a multitude of crease lines, to allow for simultaneous horizontal and vertical protection within a single product. The fiberboard surface protector eliminates the need for two or more separate products and extra steps in the protection process. The fiberboard surface protector creates a seamless barrier between a horizontal and a vertical junction of orthogonally adjacent surfaces.

Abstract: The present invention comprises a cover for wintertime protection of an outdoor air conditioning unit (OACU). The cover provides a rigid top piece to provide protection from falling objects and a semi-permeable side skirt to reduce dirt and debris entering the unit while still allowing moisture to evaporate from the unit and means to attach the cover to the unit. The cover may also be equipped with foam padding for the underside of the rigid top piece which provides for abrasion resistance for the OACU and will also provide for tilting of the cover when an unevenly distributed weight load is applied to the upper surface of the cover; the tilting facilitates runoff of ice and snow from the unit reducing the weight load bearing on the OACU.

Abstract: A universal tank overlay is described that can be attached to different sizes and configurations of storage tanks. The overlay comprises a flexible layer of material that includes at least one section. The layer is adapted to connect to a storage tank that includes two opposing end walls that are connected by an at least partially arcuate elongate tubular sidewall. The tank also includes a plurality of pipes that provide for flow into, from and vent the tank. The layer includes at least one aperture that adjusts to receive the plurality of pipes on the tank. The layer has a first position that is separate from the tank and a second position that includes the layer attached to the tank. In the second position the storage tank at least partially covers the tank. The layer is adapted for positioning on the sidewall of the tank. The layer is attached to the tank using fasteners.

The cover may further include a sleeve for covering at least a portion of the grip that extends from the cap. The sleeve may have a first end seated against the cap and a second free end. A cover for insertion into a shaft is also provided. Such a cover may include a cap insertable into an end of the shaft and a sleeve that extends from the cap. The sleeve may have a first end attached to the cap and a second free end. A combination of the shaft and the cover is also provided.

Abstract: A goggle cover assembly is described for covering and protecting a lens on a pair of goggles when the goggles are not in use. The assembly includes a fabric cover coupled to a pouch by way of a cord wherein the pouch is configured to contain the fabric cover when the cover is not in use, and includes an attachment mechanism for securing the pouch to a strap of the pair of goggles.

Abstract: After observing patio heaters at many events, hotels and restaurants, we, as decorators, knew they have little decorative appeal in beautiful settings. Patio heaters have gained popularity as people are enjoying more outdoor entertaining. We designed a cover to “hide” the heaters. Our cover is a tailored, box-pleat skirt design with three pleats, two side pleats are inset with fabric mesh to allow for ventilation of the tank, and detailed with a welt trim. Like a slip-cover, it fits over the neck and base of the heater, fastened with hook/loop sewn inside. All components are fire retardant. They are machine washable, hold their shape, offer protection from the elements, and have easy setup, and access to controls.

Abstract: A covering for use with an outdoor located unit defining an opening which exhibits a plurality of cold temperature sensitive components such as heat dissipating coils or cooling tower coils. A plurality of fasteners are secured to a face of the unit at locations proximate to at least one surrounding side of the opening. The fasteners secure to perimeter extending locations associated with an impermeable layer of material arranged over the opening in order to prevent air movement, ice, and snow through said opening in contact with the coils.

Abstract: A removable cover is provided for a decorated Christmas tree to prevent house pets from getting into the tree or playing with ornaments and lights on the tree. The cover wraps at least partially around the tree, with the top edge being hooked to tree branches with the top of the tree extending above the cover. Preferably, the bottom edge of the cover drapes onto the floor. The cover may partially or fully enclose the tree from the floor up to a desired height. The tree cover can be quickly and easily placed on the tree when people are sleeping or out of the house, and easily removed and stored when display of the tree is desired. The cover is a sheer material so that ornaments and lights are visible through the material when the cover is on the tree.
