Abstract: A wheel assembly to be coupled to a hub of a vehicle may include an inner rim to be coupled to the hub of the vehicle and an outer rim surrounding the inner rim. The wheel assembly may include gas springs operatively coupled between the inner rim and the outer rim and tread assemblies carried by the outer rim.
Abstract: Tire-type device having bearing elements (7) within annular space (5) between inner and outer coaxial structures of revolution, the latter contacting the ground in contact patch (A). The bearing elements are independent in pairs and buckle under compression in contact patch (A). The smallest characteristic dimension E of the section S of any bearing element (7) is at most equal to 0.02 times the mean radial height H of the inner annular space (5), the surface density D of the bearing elements (7) per unit area of the radially outer structure of revolution, expressed in 1/m2, is at least equal to Z/(A*?Fr/n), where Z is the nominal radial load, expressed in N, A is the area of contact with the ground, expressed in m2, and ?Fr/n is the mean force at break under tension of the n bearing elements made to buckle under compression, expressed in N.

Abstract: A wheel and solid rubber tire assembly as provided with a metal wheel having a predetermined diameter and a cylindrical rim around the periphery of the wheel. The rim has a predetermined narrow width. A soft narrow layer of rubber is secured to the narrow rim and has a first diameter and a first width at the first diameter approximately equal to the narrow width of the rim. The soft layer has a second predetermined diameter larger than the first diameter. A wide wear layer of solid rubber, having a width that is significantly greater than the width of the narrow layer, is bonded to the narrow layer at the second diameter. The wear layer has a predetermined maximum outer diameter that is larger than the second diameter of the inner soft layer. The wear layer has a hardness greater than the hardness of the soft narrow layer. The movement of the soft inner layer upon compression is increased per pound of impact so that a smoother ride is provided.
Abstract: A wheel and solid rubber tire comprising a circular mounting disk having an axis perpendicular through the center of the circular disk. A wheel rim is rigidly affixed circumferentially around the mounting disk and has a cylindrical surface extending from one end of the rim to another and, axially aligned about the axis of the mounting disk. Multiple angled cross ribs having top and bottom edges rigidly affixed at the bottom edges to the cylindrical surface of the wheel rim substantially continuously thereacross at an angle from one end of the rim to the other and evenly spaced circumferentially therearound. One or more base layers of even thickness rubber are bonded to the cylindrical surface interposed between the angled cross ribs, and multiple additional layers of even thickness rubber are bonded to the one or more base layers with each additional layer bonded to the next so that a solid rubber tire is formed which is directly bonded to the wheel rim.
