Sandwich Edge Sealing Patents (Class 156/107)
  • Patent number: 11731220
Abstract: A vapor chamber with a support structure and its manufacturing method are provided. The vapor chamber with the support structure includes a first plate, a second plate spaced apart from the first plate, and multiple support elements fixed between the first and second plates. On an outer surface of any of the first plate or the second plate, laser welding is performed on positions corresponding to the support elements so as to join the support elements to the first and second plates and to form weld ports on the outer surface of any of the plates. The invention solves the problem of fixing the support structure inside the thin vapor chamber, and therefore mass production can be realized.

  • Patent number: 11718072
Abstract: The use of camera based safety systems is growing at a rapid rate in modern automobiles. As the industry moves towards vehicles with full autonomous capability, the number of cameras required and the resolution of the cameras are both increasing. At the same time, windshields, where many of the cameras are mounted, are becoming larger and more complex in shape. This presents problems in the area of camera optics. Variations in the thickness of the glass and the plastic layer, surface mismatch, surface texture and the design curvature of the glass in conjunction with the often low installation angle, can reduce the optical clarity of the camera optics. These optical aberrations are further exacerbated during the lamination process when the layers are bonded together under pressure. The laminate of the invention utilizes a cutout in the plastic bonding layer in side of the laminate, preferable in the camera field of view.

  • Patent number: 11668990
Abstract: Electrochromic devices and methods may employ the addition of a defect-mitigating insulating layer which prevents electronically conducting layers and/or electrochromically active layers from contacting layers of the opposite polarity and creating a short circuit in regions where defects form. In some embodiments, an encapsulating layer is provided to encapsulate particles and prevent them from ejecting from the device stack and risking a short circuit when subsequent layers are deposited. The insulating layer may have an electronic resistivity of between about 1 and 108 Ohm-cm. In some embodiments, the insulating layer contains one or more of the following metal oxides: aluminum oxide, zinc oxide, tin oxide, silicon aluminum oxide, cerium oxide, tungsten oxide, nickel tungsten oxide, and oxidized indium tin oxide. Carbides, nitrides, oxynitrides, and oxycarbides may also be used.

  • Patent number: 8758532
Abstract: An device for simultaneous application of elastoplastic spacer tapes to two glass panes with identical outline shape and identical dimensions has two application heads (107) that can be adjusted essentially vertically up and down on linear axles (105). The application heads (107) are moved synchronously, likewise the two glass panes by the holding devices that are assigned to them and that move the glass panes in a direction that is perpendicular to the direction of motion of the application heads (107). Thus, it is sufficient to measure a single glass pane of a triple insulating glass element, and both application panes of the insulating glass element can be covered at the same time with spacer tapes, so that time is saved, and the two application panes can be assembled with the cover pane in a shorter time interval into an insulating glass element with three panes.

Abstract: Certain example embodiments of this invention relate to a frit slurry paste for use in assemblies (e.g., a vacuum insulated glass unit or a plasma display panel), and methods of making the same. Frit powder, binder material, and a water-based solvent are mixed together to form an intermediate mixture. The frit powder is substantially lead free, and the water-based solvent is provided at a first temperature. Additional water-based solvent is added to the intermediate mixture to form a frit slurry paste. The additional water-based solvent is provided at a second temperature, with the second temperature being lower than the first temperature. The binder material is provided at a concentration of 0.001%-20% by weight with respect to the frit slurry paste or the frit slurry paste absent the frit powder. The frit slurry paste has a bulk viscosity of 2,000-200,000 cps.

Abstract: The transparent fire-resistant glazing has at least two glass or glass ceramic panes with a gap between them, which is filled with a UV-cured material. It is made by curing a UV-curable material filling the gap with UV radiation. The UV-curable material includes polymerizable components, namely a monomer with acrylate functionality and an oligomer, and at least one bromine-containing flame retardant. The fire retardant can be a polybrominated diphenyl ether, a brominated alcohol, or a polybrominated cycloalkane, and/or a mixtures thereof. The glazing is made by a process in which the panes are cleaned and masked to form the gap between them, the UV-curable material is filled into the gap and then cured with the UV radiation.
