    Abstract: A light weight flexible flame, arc flash and flash fire resistant fabric for protective garments is made from a flexible polyvinylchloride sheet having phthalate or phthalate free plasticizers coated with well defined parallel lines or grids of adhesive layer. The adhesive coated polyvinylchloride sheet contacts a non-woven meta-aramid fiber liner and is heated to produce a bond between the polyvinylchloride sheet and the liner. Both polyvinylchloride sheet and meta-aramid non-woven liner resist heat. When heat from arc flash or flash fire is applied, the heat is conducted away at local contacting regions of the adhesive with the polyvinylchloride sheet to the liner whereby the temperature of the polyvinylchloride is locally reduced preventing sagging, charring or burning of the space between adhesive contacting regions. This structure produces mechanically strong lightweight arc flash and flash fire resistant fabric suited for producing garments that meet all ASTM specifications for fireproof garments.

    Abstract: A polyurethane adhesive which is useful in bonding porous and non-porous surfaces is provided. The adhesive is especially useful in bonding windshield glass into automotive frames under a variety of environmental conditions, particularly in after market windshield replacement applications. The polyurethane includes at least one urethane prepolymer which is based on at least one thermoplastic polyol. In one embodiment, the urethane prepolymer may be formed from one or more polyisocyanates, one or more polyetherpolyols and one or more thermoplastic polyesterpolyols, wherein the prepolymer has a free isocyanate content of from about 0.6 to about 3.5% by weight, based on the weight of the polyurethane. In another embodiment, a one-part adhesive composition is provided which includes an isocyanate-functional and thermoplastic polyurethane prepolymer having a free isocyanate content of from about 0.6 to about 3.

    Abstract: A method is provided of adhesively bonding an elastomeric member to a glass substrate in such a way as to accelerate the building of the strength of such bond and to a vehicle glazing having such an elastomeric member bonded to the glass substrate. This accelerated bonding process is accomplished by mixing a nucleophilic and/or electrophilic catalyst with a beneficial amount of an adhesion promoting primer applying such mixture to a peripheral portion of the glass substrate and exposing same to ambient air. By accelerating the building of the subject bond strength, the rate of “creep” is significantly reduced.

    Abstract: Systems and methods for improved window mounting on electronic devices are provided. A window mounting assembly can include a heat activated adhesive, such as a heat activated film (“HAF”), which can be used to secure a window to an enclosure. In some embodiments, heated air can be blown in from a bottom side of the window, which can provide better offset control in the assembly. In some embodiments, an undercut can be made in the enclosure that can act as a trap for HAF overflow. An overhang that is created by the undercut can reduce the visibility of HAF overflow from a user. In addition, the heated air that is applied to the window can create a high pressure region in an area underneath the window. The high pressure region can direct the HAF overflow away from this area and towards the undercut in the enclosure.

    Abstract: The transparent fire-resistant glazing has at least two glass or glass ceramic panes with a gap between them, which is filled with a UV-cured material. It is made by curing a UV-curable material filling the gap with UV radiation. The UV-curable material includes polymerizable components, namely a monomer with acrylate functionality and an oligomer, and at least one bromine-containing flame retardant. The fire retardant can be a polybrominated diphenyl ether, a brominated alcohol, or a polybrominated cycloalkane, and/or a mixtures thereof. The glazing is made by a process in which the panes are cleaned and masked to form the gap between them, the UV-curable material is filled into the gap and then cured with the UV radiation.
