Patent number: 12005654Abstract: A method is provided of designing and producing a carbon fiber composite wrist pin using a combination of a carbon fiber composite pultruded rod that is overwrapped with a carbon fiber prepreg fabric. The use of the carbon fiber pultruded rod and the carbon fiber prepreg fabric results in a rod with optimal flexural strength properties to endure the flexural stress placed on a wrist pin during the cycling of an internal combustion engine. In addition, the overwrapping of the pultruded rod with a carbon fiber prepreg fabric allows for one pultruded rod blank to produce multiple wrist pin sizes by allowing one to change the outer diameter of the wrist pin by changing the thickness of the carbon fiber prepreg fabric overwrapping. After overwrapping, the rod blank is cut to a chosen specific length, optionally inserted into a metal sleeve, and coated with a thermal barrier coating. The wrist pin is then ground to a chosen specific tolerance and coated with an anti-friction coating.Type: GrantFiled: November 10, 2022Date of Patent: June 11, 2024Assignee: AWA FORGED COMPOSITES, LLC.Inventors: Bryan Gill, Brennan C. Patent number: 11067203Abstract: The invention relates to production of long spiral-welded large polymer products, as required for pipelines production, chemical, oil and gas and petrochemical industries, agricultural complex and utility services. The object of the invention is to create variants of spiral-welded polymer product with a cellular wall, having the internal or external, or internal and external uniform smooth walls with little material consumption, weight and cost. It should allow making products on site due the use of a thin-walled, lightweight, flexible profile. The object is solved owing to fact that a long hollow thermoplastic profile is used in spiral-welded polymer products, wherein the cross-section of the profile has a form of a closed geometric figure with a convex part having essentially the semi-ring shape and flat part that are connected each other, forming the convex and flat parts of the external surface of the profile, respectively.Type: GrantFiled: March 22, 2016Date of Patent: July 20, 2021Inventors: Oleksandr Mykolayovych Berezin, Sergii Viktorovych Sereda

Publication number: 20130276963Abstract: A bat is created using efficient and automated techniques to apply layers of composite materials onto a mandrel. The system includes a plurality of rotating wrapping mechanisms binding stages. Each wrapping mechanism rotates along a central axis while a mandrel is driven through the axis. The rotational motion allows each wrapping mechanism to wrap one or more material strips along the outer surface of the mandrel. Between each wrapping layer, a binding material such as fusible thread may be applied to fuse wrapping layers together. The wrapping may be performed for the bat barrel and bat handle. Each mandrel may form two bats, and multiple mandrels can be connected together to maximize wrapping efficiency. The wrapped mandrels are separated into bat units, a resin transfer molding is performed, and the bats are completed.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 28, 2013Publication date: October 24, 2013Inventor: George Burger

Patent number: 8563863Abstract: A smooth-bore plastic tubing with an outer helical support bead is resistant to collapse and incorporates plural conductors disposed outside of the tubing bore and insulated both from ambient and from one another. The conductors may have a desired relatively high thermal conductivity to tidal air flow within the tubing, while also having a comparatively high thermal resistance to ambient. The conductors may be electrical conductors, or may include fiber optic conductors as well in the same tubing structure. A method for making the tubing includes extruding a molten thermoplastic ribbon with an elevated plateau portion defining at least one conductor-receiving groove. The plastic ribbon is wrapped to form a tube and at least one conductor is embedded in the groove of the plateau portion.Type: GrantFiled: April 13, 2011Date of Patent: October 22, 2013Inventor: Eric Carlson
