  • Patent number: 10391437
Abstract: A filter media construction wherein at least two layers of a substantially open spacer and at least two layers of a filter media/material are combined in an alternating sequence and coiled around a core to form at least two distinct, continuous or segmented, coil-shaped fluid flow channels that are contiguous but separated by the filter media in the radial direction and extend axially from an inlet side to an outlet side of the filter media construction preventing direct fluid flow between the clean and dirty sides of the filter media construction. The spacer maintains substantially uniform width of the flow channels in the flow direction providing substantially uniform fluid flow. One flow channel is closed to fluid flow at the inlet side forming the clean side and the other flow channel is closed to fluid flow at the outlet side forming the dirty side of the filter media construction.

  • Patent number: 9365003
Abstract: The present invention is a method for forming a laminate for use as a flexible packaging wrapper for confections and other food bars. An outer clear film usually oriented polyolefin is printed, preferably reverse printed, with graphics. In a tandem extrusion lamination with registered cold seal process a molten, polyolefin extrudate is applied to bond the outer printed film to an inner film. The inner film is preferably oriented polyolefin and may have a metallized coating of aluminum buried against the extrudate. Finally, a pattern of cold seal adhesive is applied to the inner film surface. The flexible package made with the extrusion lamination process offers improved stiffness, puncture resistance, abrasion resistance and durability over a similar structure produced with adhesive lamination.

The adhesive contained in the coating substance is activatable at least once by heat and pressure, but is not sticky at room temperature. Methods for producing such a multilayer material and printing stock that is produced using a section of such a multilayer material are also described.

Abstract: In this manufacturing method, a tubular body 18 having a rib 16 provided therein is obtained. The manufacturing method includes the steps of: preparing a mandrel 2 divided into two or more divided bodies d1 along a longitudinal direction of the mandrel 2; winding a prepreg r1 for a rib around at least one of the divided bodies d1; combining all the divided bodies d1 to obtain a first intermediate body 10 after the step of winding the prepreg r1 for the rib; winding a prepreg g1 for the outer peripheral part around an outside of the first intermediate body 10 to obtain a second intermediate body; heating the second intermediate body to obtain a cured laminate; and extracting the mandrel 2 from the cured laminate. Preferably, the mandrel is equally divided in a circumferential direction. Preferably, a winding start end part t2 of the prepreg r1 for the rib and a winding finish end part t1 thereof overlap with each other.

  • Patent number: 8414724
Abstract: A structural member such as a strut includes a composite material tube having metal end fittings that are attached to the tube by co-bonded, double shear joints. The double shear bond joint construction reduces the residual stress on the bonds that result from mismatch of the coefficients of thermal expansion of the composite tube and the metal end fittings. The ends of the fittings that are bonded to the tube may include a stepped profile that functions to limit the peak stresses in the bonds.
