  • Patent number: 6540863
Abstract: A fastening component of a separable fastener is molded out of two separate flows of resin joined under pressure in a nip as the fastening elements are molded in cavities of a cavity roller. The joined flows of resin travel about the cavity roller while being cooled, and are then passed about a stripping roller to pull the formed fastener strip from the cavity roller.

  • Patent number: 6485597
Abstract: Shaped elastomer portions are to be produced on an elastomer seal. For that purpose the shaped elastomer portions are provided with a thermoplastic layer, preferably by co-extrusion. The thermoplastic layer is converted into a molten state by heating. The shaped elastomer portions are then pressed against oppositely disposed regions of the elastomer seal and cooled until the thermoplastic layer has hardened again and a fixed bond has occurred on the one hand in relation to the shaped elastomer portions and on the other hand to the elastomer seal.

  • Publication number: 20020144769
Abstract: An insulating beverage cup is produced with an air containing film layer disposed on an inner surface of a food or beverage paper stock. The air containing film layer is extruded or laminated to the paper stock. An additional extruded or laminated layer is applied between the air containing film layer and paper stock layer. The insulating coating layer decreases the energy transfer between the beverage and the user's hands allowing the user to hold onto the cup for an extended period of time without causing user discomfort or pain. The exterior surface of the beverage cup remains highly printable and predisposed to high quality graphics.

  • Patent number: 6409868
Abstract: A method of fabricating a rectilinear window frame comprising cutting a length of extruded frame profile having a body portion and an integral nailing fin into four lengths from opposite sides of the profile at forty-five degrees (45°) with the cuts meeting at a point intermediate the width of the nailing fin, then assembling the four sections into the rectangular frame. The invention is also directed to frames produced by such method.

  • Patent number: 6368445
Abstract: The invention concerns a multi-colored composite foil (14) of thermoplastic synthetic material and a method and a device for its manufacture. The device according to the invention comprises a first extruder device (20) with a first forming tool (22), whereby the extruder device produces a first plastified synthetic material melt and extrudes same by the first forming tool in order to manufacture a carrier foil or carrier layer (10) with a first color (28) and with a depression. The device can, furthermore, comprise at least one second extruder device (24) with a second forming tool, whereby the second extruder device produces a plastified synthetic material melt and extrudes same by means of the forming tool in order to produce a top foil or top layer (12), which has a second color and which fits, surface-flush, into the depression of the carrier layer or carrier foil.

  • Patent number: 6325880
Abstract: A lenticular lens sheet for use as a rear projection screen, comprises a base lenticular lens sheet having a surface provided with a plurality of lenticular elements, and a surface diffusing part having minute diffusing elements. The surface diffusing part is combined with the base lenticular lens sheet by laminating a plastic film having one surface provided with the minute diffusing elements to the base lenticular lens sheet so that the minute diffusing elements lie on the surfaces of the lenticular elements or by embossing the minute diffusing elements in the surfaces of the lenticular elements of the base lenticular lens sheet with an embossing plastic film having a surface of a shape complementary to the minute diffusing elements.

  • Patent number: 6277231
Abstract: This process consists: in continuously extruding, with the aid of a multislot die, parallel sheets (31) of thermally fusible material inside a cooling chamber (4), with the creation of a seal between the longitudinal edges of the sheets and the walls of the chamber; and in creating, in this chamber and from the end located on the die side, successively in the various compartments located on both sides of each sheet (31), successively a vacuum and the delivery of a coolant, the two compartments located on the two sides of the same sheet being, in the case of one of them, subjected to a vacuum and, in the case of the other, subjected to the delivery of a coolant, and conversely during the following phase, so as to deform the sheets and weld them in pairs with the formation of cells (36).

  • Patent number: 6273983
Abstract: A molding for a vehicle and its manufacturing method, wherein a molding body excellent in rigidity is formed by a mixture of a hard olefin based resin and powders such as mica, talc, glass fibre, etc., and is coated with a protective film layer of an olefin based resin, excellent in resistance to scuffing and chemicals, on the exposed surface. An intermediate adhesive layer having a thermofusion bond property, which is an olefin based thermoplastic elastomer resin composition, or a styrene based thermoplastic elastomer resin composition, can be sandwiched between the hard olefin based resin of the molding body and olefin based resin of the protective film layer. The molding body, the intermediate adhesive layer if present, and the protective film layer are integrally molded by several extruders and firmly laminated as a whole.
