  • Patent number: 7122095
Abstract: Methods for forming an assembly for transfer of a useful layer are described. In an embodiment, the method includes forming a useful layer on a first support having an interface therebetween, and a residual material on a portion of the first support to form the assembly, and processing the assembly to attenuate any bond between the useful layer and the first support caused by the residual material. An implementation of the method includes processing the assembly to remove residual material. In another variation, processing of the assembly includes forming at least one cut or separating channel between a free surface of the useful layer and the interface to separate the useful layer from contact with the residual material. In yet another variation, processing of the assembly includes forming a peripheral recess so that the residual material does not contact the useful layer.

Abstract: A LOC die assembly is disclosed including a die dielectrically adhered to the underside of a lead frame. The lead frame has stress relief slots formed in the undersides of the lead elements proximate the adhesive to accommodate filler particles lodged between the leads and the active surface of the die during transfer molding of a plastic encapsulant. The increased space created by the slots and flexure in the leads about the slots reduces point stresses on the active surface of the die by the filler particles. The increased flexure in the leads about the slots further enhances the locking of the leads in position with respect to the die.

  • Patent number: 7108650
Abstract: The envelope comprises layers of plain un-coated kraft paper and of bubble-wrap polyethylene. A stack of the layers is joined at the marginal edges of the envelope by squeezing the stack between a pair of points-dies, which are formed with points that puncture the kraft paper but do not puncture the polyethylene. The points push crowns of un-punctured polyethylene through the punctured boles in the paper. Then, the marginal edges are squeezed flat between flat-dies, the flat-dies being heated enough to cause fuse-bonding. The margins of the finished envelope are held together not only by fuse-bonding, but by the presence of the crowns, which, penetrating right through the holes in the paper, serve as mechanical rivets.

  • Patent number: 7094305
Abstract: A method of producing batches of micro particles includes affixing a substrate sheet to a support and cutting the substrate sheet with a laser device to define a plurality of micro particles. Before, after or during the cutting of the substrate sheet, the region of the substrate sheet defining each micro particle is marked with a code or other identifying marking using a laser device. The code or other identifying marking is unique to the particular batch of micro particles to uniquely identify that batch. The micro particles are removed from the support by a solvent. Preferably, a single laser device is used for cutting the substrate sheet and marking the micro particles. Alternatively, separate laser devices may be used for cutting the substrate sheet and marking the micro particles.

Abstract: A method for forming the edge profile of a decorative laminate panel, wherein the decorative laminate panel includes a decorative surfacing layer, a backing layer and a substrate positioned between the decorative surfacing layer and the backing layer. The method is achieved by creating a recess defined by the decorative surfacing layer and the backing layer, forming an edge member shaped and dimensioned for placement within the recess, the edge member including an interlocking profile, and positioning the edge member within the recess with the interlocking profile exposed for selective attachment to adjacent laminate panels. The invention further relates to a laminate panel manufactured by the method described above. In addition, the invention relates to a connecting system for coupling adjacent panels. The connecting system employs a track locking strip in securely coupling the panels in accordance with the present invention.

Abstract: Single-sided conductor patterned films are prepared, each of which has a conductor pattern formed only one side of a resin film and via hole filled with conductive paste. A single-sided conductor patterned film which has a conductor pattern formed only one side of a resin film and an opening formed in the resin film so as to expose an electrode is laminated on the single-sided conductor patterned films. Moreover, a cover layer with an opening to expose an electrode is laminated on a bottom surface of the single-sided conductor patterned films to form a laminate. Then, by pressing while heating the laminate, a multilayer substrate having the electrodes at both sides thereof can be produced.

Abstract: Ultraremovable adhesive is applied to a paper sheet to form therewith a liner sheet and the liner sheet is laminated to a cardstock sheet to form a laminate cardstock. The cardstock sheet is then die cut therethrough, but not through the liner sheet, to form cardstock cut lines that define at least in part perimeters of business cards (or other printable media). The outer face of the liner sheet is then die cut therethrough, but not through the cardstock sheet, to form liner sheet strips on a back side of the cardstock sheet. Some of the strips define cover strips covering some of the cardstock cut lines, and others of the strips define waste strips. The waste strips are then matrix removed from the back of the cardstock sheet. The resulting business card sheet construction is then fed through a printer or copier by the user and the desired indicia printed on the front sides of the business cards, while the cover strips hold the cards together as a unit sheet construction.

Abstract: A mat (10) comprises a pile surface fabric (40) and a rubber or rubber-like backing layer (20). The pile surface fabric (40) is connected to and extends to the edges of the backing layer (20). The pile surface fabric (40) is provided with a border portion (22) having on its upper surface (26) a contrasting color and/or texture to the remainder (24) of the pile surface fabric and extending along at least a portion of the edge of said pile surface fabric. The mat (10) can be formed in a single cutting operation by cutting the mat from a roll of mat material (30) comprising a pile surface fabric having elongate areas (32, 34) of contrasting surface color and/or texture bonded to a rubber backing layer. The cuts (36, 38) are made along the elongate areas (32, 34). Since the border (22) is formed in the pile, colors and shapes can be selected to suit customer requirements, while the mat (10) serves to clean footwear over its entire area.

  • Patent number: 6824639
Abstract: A method of partially imaging an imaging surface of a substrate (50) with a plurality of layers of marking material (10) which have at least one common boundary within a print pattern that covers only certain portions of the substrate and not other portions of the substrate. The method includes applying initial superimposed layer of marking material (10) to a base layer (23) and removing portions of the initial superimposed layers of marking material and leaving the desired residual layer portions in the desired print pattern directly applied to the imaging surface of the substrate. The method typically includes the transfer of marking material onto the imaging surface of the substrate. The method has many variants, which can be used to make one-way or other vision control panels, typically using a ceramic ink decal carrier to image a glass sheet with ceramic ink that is then fused onto the glass, which is optionally tempered, in a suitable furnace.

  • Patent number: 6802927
Abstract: A method and apparatus for improved cutting of an object is provided. The object can take the form of many different structures including thin formations that require cutting precision, support, and dimensional control. In accordance with one example embodiment of the present invention, the method of cutting a member uses a laser and begins with the step of providing a template removably adhered to the member. The laser then projects through the template, without intersecting with the template, to cut the member and manufacture the desired formation. The laser does not intersect with, and therefore does not cut, the template structure and cause excess laser cutting dust.
