  • Patent number: 10953560
Abstract: A system for converting and attaching material strips to a substrate includes a dispenser configured to advance an elongated tape having length l1 and width w1 with l1>w1 relative to a surface of a substrate. A cutting tool cuts the elongated tape transversely along the width w1 of the tape to produce a strip having length l2 and width w2. During the cutting, a portion of the cutting Stool pushes a first surface of the strip against a gripper while cutting the tape. The gripper holds the first surface of the strip against the gripper while moving to position an opposing, second surface of the strip over the surface of the substrate. The gripper releases the strip after positioning the strip.

  • Patent number: 10750060
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a camera module capable of achieving a smaller height, a method of manufacturing a camera module, an imaging apparatus, and an electronic apparatus. An imaging device having its imaging surface bonded to a provisional substrate is attached, and the imaging device in that state is joined to a substrate via an electrode having a TSV structure. After the provisional substrate is detached, an IR cut filter (IRCF) on which a light blocking film is printed or jet-dispensed in a region other than the effective pixel region is bonded to the imaging surface via a transparent resin. Because of this, there is no need to provide any sealing glass in the stage before the imaging surface, and the optical length of the lens can be shortened. Thus, a smaller height can be achieved. The present disclosure can be applied to camera modules.

  • Patent number: 8663416
Abstract: Methods of transferring an image to a substrate are generally provided. A heat transfer material can be partially cut to define a shape with cuts made into the heat transfer material (i.e., into its thickness). The heat transfer material includes a transferable portion overlying a release layer overlying a base sheet such that the cuts are made into the heat transfer material through the transferable portion while leaving the release layer and base sheet uncut. The transferable portion of the heat transfer material can be removed from the base sheet in an area surrounding the shape. Then, the heat transfer material can be positioned adjacent the substrate such that the transferable portion defined by the shape contacts the substrate. Heat and pressure can be applied to the heat transfer material. Thereafter, the base sheet can be removed.

  • Patent number: 8641852
Abstract: Methods are disclosed for converting on a mass scale elongated material webs into finished parts or devices. Slits form strands in a web, the strands comprising interconnected objects which correspond to parts of finished devices. Strands are combined with additional webs to form a material laminate from which finished devices are die cut. The methods are suitable for a range of converting applications including medical devices, particularly the external nasal dilator. Complex dilator devices produced from the methods are formed as a single body truss having horizontal regions adapted to engage outer wall tissues of first and second nasal passages of a nose. When in use the dilator stabilizes or expands nasal outer wall tissues and prevents the outer wall tissues from drawing inward during breathing. Methods of manufacture comprise separate steps for fabricating and assembling the elements and layers of finished dilator devices and for packaging finished devices individually or in groups.
