  • Patent number: 6783620
Abstract: The present invention provides thin-laminate panels (i.e., thin-laminate panels having dielectric layers of about 0.006 inches or less and conductive layers on either side of the dielectric layer), wherein the edges of the dielectric layers of the panels are free of conductive material, such as copper. The thin-laminate panel is designed to provide necessary capacitance for all or a substantial number of the integrated circuits to be formed thereon. The thin-laminate panels of the present invention may be tested for manufacturing defects, such as short circuits, before further processing of the panels to produce PCBs. “Finishing” methods for shearing sheets of unfinished thin-laminate into the finished thin-laminate panels of the present invention in a manner that does not cause smearing of the conductive material onto the dielectric layer are also provided.

  • Patent number: 6743317
Abstract: The invention describes an improved process for the sealing of alternating flutes of ‘honeycomb’ designed filters to be made after construction, or fabrication, of the basic filter structure, rather than during construction, as is shown in the prior art. The method seals both sides of the primary flutes as is typically done for one side in the prior art and then the media is rolled into a honeycomb shape so that secondary flutes, open on both sides of the roll are created. The roll is vertically orientated and then the lower end is immersed into a sealing compound to such a depth which will cause the sealing compound to travel up into the lower portion of the roll to a height above the height of the lower seal for the primary flutes. The sealing compound is allowed to cure, effectively sealing the secondary flutes. The roll is then cut along a line located above the height of the lower seal for the primary flutes and before the top surface of the sealing compound in the secondary flutes.

Thereafter, the strip-shaped material being fed is cut into material pieces of a variable width, variable inclinations and a variable length in accordance with the three-dimensional computer aided design data of a three-dimensional product using a linear heat source. The cut material pieces are stacked on a moving table to be positioned in the corresponding positions of the three-dimensional product. Finally, the stacked cut material pieces are pushed to bond one piece to anther.

Abstract: Adhesive labels are manufactured by cutting windows in an upper layer of a support web (2) through to a lower silicon coated material. Folded leaflets (15) are then adhered by lines of adhesive (11, 12, 13) to the support web (2) and the combination is die-cut to form individual adhesive labels with part of the die-cut folded leaflet extending beyond an edge of a base label formed from the window in the support web. This method of manufacture permits more complex label structures to be constructed without pre-cutting individual base labels.

Abstract: A method of processing greensheets for use as microelectronic substrates comprises providing a greensheet having a width, a length and a thickness, bonding to the greensheet, within the greensheet width and length, a frame adapted to constrain movement of the greensheet within the frame, processing the greensheet and bonded frame, and removing the frame from the processed greensheet. The processing of the greensheet and bonded frame may include punching vias in the greensheet, filling the vias in the greensheet with conductive material, patterning the greensheet by applying conductive paste to the vias and greensheet surface, stacking the patterned greensheet and bonded frame with at least one other patterned greensheet and bonded frame, and laminating the greensheets. The frame is preferably removed from the processed greensheet after laminating the greensheets, and before the laminated greensheets are subsequently sintered.

Abstract: A uniquely shaped plate may be transmitted through a card printer designed to print on only a card having a standard size and shape. The plate includes a laminate including a card having a sheet of backing material affixed thereto, preferably by an easy release adhesive. For example, the card may have a backing, such as release paper. If the plate is a flexible material, the backing material is a rigid sheet. The standard card is kiss cut through its thickness to form segments having contours for making said unique shape. However, the kiss cut does not cut the sheet of backing material, which continues to hold the segments in place. Therefore, the card retains its standard size and shape so that it may be sent through the card printer with the segments in place. Then, the segments are separated.

Stock is formed by laminating a plastic sheet which will provide the main carrier body of the overlay and a thin film which has a release agent strongly bonded to its outer surface. The film is bonded to the main plastic layer, such as by an adhesive. Overlay blanks are cut from the resulting laminate stock as by die cutting. The overlay blanks then are bent and mounted on scanning hooks, with the tab portion extending essentially vertically and presenting an outwardly exposed release surface which provides ready appliability, removability and replaceability of merchandising labels which bear information related to the products supported on the hanger.
