  • Patent number: 6540865
Abstract: Prelaminate pressure-sensitive adhesive (PSA) constructions comprise, a first substrate, a coating or release material on a surface of the first substrate, a PSA layer disposed on the coating of release material, and a detackified layer (DL) disposed on a surface of the PSA layer to form a continuous film covering the PSA layer. In first and second embodiments of the construction the DL is activatable to form a tacky layer on top of the PSA layer for lamination with a second substrate. In a third embodiment, the DL includes constituents that when activated migrate into the PSA layer to expose the PSA layer tacky surface for lamination with a second substrate. The prelaminate PSA constructions are completely nonblocking to a minimum 24 hour blocking temperature of about 50° C. at pressure of about 40 kilopascals, thereby allowing such prelaminate PSA construction to be collected, stored, and or transported before being laminated without adhesive interference occurring between continuous layers.

Abstract: A memo block in the present invention is composed by a pile of notepapers. In a proper section near the fore edge of each notepaper, the memo block is provided with predetermined designs or advertisement. The fore surface of the memo block is cut by a predetermined mode from the first page to the bottom page so as to form a wavy surface, and then the fore surface is pushed backward by a paper-regulating machine to form a proper slope. Upon forming the fore surface with a slope, the rear surface of the memo block is also formed with a slope same as that of the fore surface. The rear outward slope is cut off to be a vertical plane surface, and then the rear plane surface is glued to form a spine. Thus, the designs or advertisement of the memo block can gradually change paper by paper and have genuinely vivid and solid advertising effects because of the wavy and oblique fore surface.

Abstract: A method for manufacturing an optical disc and a method for transporting a multi-layered optical disc are provided. When adhering the sheet and the disc substrate, after the adhesive is supplied to the outer side of the groove on the disc substrate, the sheet is loaded on the disc substrate. The adhesive is pressed to extend to the groove. At this timer, because the surplus adhesive is blocked when flowing into the groove, the surplus adhesive does not overflow easily toward the inner side of the groove. In addition, even if the adhesive overflows toward the inner side of the groove the adhesive is kept between the non-adhered portion of the sheet and the disc substrate, preventing the adhesive from moving to the disc surface. The non-adhered portion is cut by the cutting blade after the adhesive is completely cured, and then removed from the disc substrate.

  • Patent number: 6423168
Abstract: Discloses a method of making scanning hooks with a release agent on the label attachment tab. Stock is formed by laminating a plastic sheet which will provide the main carrier body of the overlay and a thin film which has a release agent strongly bonded to its outer surface. The film is bonded to the main plastic layer, such as by an adhesive. Overlay blanks are cut from the resulting laminate stock as by die cutting. The overlay blanks then are bent and mounted on scanning hooks, with the tab portion extending essentially vertically and presenting an outwardly exposed release surface which provides ready appliability, removability and replaceability of merchandising labels which bear information related to the products supported on the hanger.

Abstract: A system for continuously manufacturing security tags involves supplying housing stock material in a continuous web from a supply station and then forming housing cavities in the housing stock material without separating the continuous web. Resonator strips are inserted in the housing cavities downstream of the plastic forming. The housing cavities with the inserted resonator strips are closed and sealed with lid stock material which is placed over the open ends of the housing cavities. Bias strips are attached to the outer surface of the lid stock material remote from the housing cavity. Cover strip material is then placed over the bias strips and outer surface of the lid stock material.

Abstract: A method of manufacturing a light modulating capacitor display by successive operations on an assembly comprising forming a layer of a conductive material on a substrate in a pattern is disclosed. The pattern forms a plurality of fixed electrodes. The pattern forms electrical conductors for driving the fixed electrodes and electrical conductors for driving shutter electrodes. A layer of insulative material is laid over portions of the pattern forming the plurality of fixed electrodes. A shutter electrode forming layer is attached to the assembly. The shutter electrode forming layer has a conductive side and a nonconductive side. The conductive side is placed in facing, contacting relationship to the layer of insulative material and the pattern of conductive material. The conductive material is removed from the shutter electrode forming layer to form groups of shutter electrodes. A plurality of shutters are cut from the shutter electrode forming layer.

  • Patent number: 6350336
Abstract: A method for manufacturing a press fabric for a paper machine includes the attachment of a strip of top laminate layer material to a base fabric using a heat-activated adhesive film. The top laminate layer material may be a woven fabric, a nonwoven mesh, or a thermoplastic sheet material, and, in any case, has the heat-activated adhesive film bonded to one of its two sides. The strip of top laminate layer material and heat-activated adhesive film together form a multi-component strip, which is spiralled onto the outer surface of the base fabric, with the side of the strip of top laminate layer material having the heat-activated adhesive film against the outer surface, in a closed helix, and bonded thereto with heat and pressure. The portions of the multi-component strip overhanging the lateral edges of the base fabric are then trimmed, and a staple fiber batt is needled into and through the top laminate layer formed by the multi-component strip to firmly attach it to the base fabric.

Abstract: An elongate light-shield film is withdrawn for a length corresponding to the width of a photosensitive film by a light-shield film supply mechanism, cut off into a light-shield film by a first cutting mechanism, and fed to an overlapping position by a feeding and positioning mechanism. In the overlapping position, a transverse end of the light-shield film is caused to overlap a longitudinal end of the photosensitive film, and the overlapping ends are cut off by a second cutting mechanism. Abutting ends of the light-shield film and the photosensitive film are then joined to each other by a tape, and the light-shield film and the photosensitive film which are thus joined are around on a spool. Debris produced when the overlapping ends are cut off is automatically discharged.
