  • Patent number: 9895869
Abstract: A sheet material adhesive agent application method includes first and second actions. The first action is performed sequentially for stacked multiple sheet materials. The first action is implemented by: taking out an uppermost one of the multiple sheet materials; transferring the taken-out sheet material to an adhesive agent application stage; and applying the adhesive agent to the transferred sheet material at the adhesive agent application stage. The second action is performed in advance to the first action, wherein the second action is implemented by setting an uppermost group of sheet materials so that each sheet material of the uppermost group has a predetermined curvature projecting upward. The first action is completed before the sheet material is restored to a state before the second action.

  • Patent number: 5421947
Abstract: Disclosed is a laminating machine for applying a protective laminate to the edge of any paper or paperboard product such as an index or paperboard card. The machine includes grippers for retaining opposed edges of a cut laminate and an elongate crimping mechanism for engaging the laminate between the grippers and for pressing the laminate against the nip of a pair of pressure rollers. The elongate crimping mechanism is withdrawn and an edge of the paper or paperboard product is fed to the elongate crimp created in the laminate. The paper and laminate are then fed between heated pressure rollers to effect lamination. The above steps can be repeated to apply a laminate to two or more edges of a paper or paperboard product. When two or more adjacent edges are to be laminated, a cutting mechanism cuts the laminate at angles to form miter joints at the corners.

  • Patent number: 4290841
Abstract: Steel bars are continuously fed along a path in a direction transverse to the bar axes, are separated by a separator and are then supplied by a roller conveyor to an axial interval regulating station. From this station each steel bar is supplied in the axial direction at regular intervals by means of sets of pinch rollers which are provided at specific intervals and which can be separately dislocated out of the path of movement of the bars and by means of a rod and a spacer fitted to the tip of a swing rod pivotally connected to the rod. Steel bars are thus delivered at regular intervals to a coating station and thereat have the entire lengths thereof, except the threaded end portions thereof, coated with a coating layer. Thereafter, the coated bars are sent to a taping station, whereat the entire lengths of the bars, including the coating layers, are tightly wrapped by a thermo-shrinking tape.

  • Patent number: 4081301
Abstract: In a preferred embodiment, a continuous elastic ribbon is fed to a diaper web assembly station in a stretched condition. While traveling to the assembly station, an adhesive is applied to discrete lengths of the elastic ribbon at regularly spaced intervals. Simultaneously, discrete absorbent core segments as well as webs of moisture-impervious backsheet material and moisture-pervious topsheet material are fed to the diaper web assembly station. At the station, the stretched elastic ribbon is adhered to the moisture-impervious backsheet web in the discrete areas of the elastic which are covered by adhesive at predetermined points along the length of said web. After the adhesive has set up, the assembled web and the elastic contained therein is severed in its unadhered areas, whereupon the unadhered end portions become relaxed and inactive without affecting the functionality of the adhered portions in the ultimate assemblage.
