  • Patent number: 4993586
Abstract: An adhesive bandage dispensing device is provided which facilitates efficient and quick access to an adhesive bandage. The device has a base, a spool holder, a removal platform having a slicer and cutter and an adhesive bandage carrier spool mounted to the device by the spool holder. A continuous strip of adhesive bandages is mounted on the spool. The strip consists of separate adhesive bandages wrapped in a protective coating. The action of pulling the strip away from the spool over the platform causes a portion of the protective covering of strip to be sliced by the slicer. This will expose a bandage which then can be lifted off the remaining portion of the protective coating for use. After this, the cutter is used to separate the bandageless strip from the device for subsequent disposal.

  • Patent number: 4990214
Abstract: A portable device for guiding a length of pressure sensitive adhesive coated tape partially onto the outer wrap of a roll of masking material adjacent one of its edges to provide a composite masking sheet for use in masking surfaces comprising a length of the sheet material having the tape adhered along and extending widthwise past one edge by which the composite masking sheet can be adhered to a surface. The outer edge of the tape is not guided by the device, and a tendency that otherwise exists for the tape being adhered along the edge portion of the roll of masking material to move transversely away from the masking material so that less and less of the tape is adhered to the masking material is restricted by a tracking member mounted on a frame of the device between a hub supporting a roll of the tape and the roll of masking material.

  • Patent number: 4913767
Abstract: A cut off blade adapted for severing plastic film material folded in layers. The blade is a thin metal sheet including an attachment portion and a plurality of similarly shaped teeth defining a cutting edge portion of the blade. Each of the teeth defines parts of the first and second major surfaces in the shapes of isosceles triangles with two equal length sides terminating in points and having bases adjacent the attachment portion and aligned in a first direction along the blade so that the points project at right angles to the first direction. The angle between any portion of an edge surface of the blade along the cutting edge portion and the second surface when measured in a plane normal to the first direction is the same acute angle, and the metal of the sheet defining the edge surface along the cutting edge has been cold flowed toward the intersection thereof with the second major surface by a punch and die forming method to define a sharp edge at that intersection.

  • Patent number: 4780172
Abstract: An improved tape dispenser includes a housing having parallel spaced sidewalls which have lower edges defining a housing base. The sidewalls may be joined at the top, front and rear of the dispenser but remain open at the lower edges. A resilient tongue extends between a forward portion of the sidewalls and has a portion which protrudes below the lower edges. The protruding end portion has a straight, radiused end for smoothly engaging and applying the tape. A cutting blade is disposed slightly forward and above the end portion of the tongue. Tabs on a rearward surface of the tongue form a guiding slot for the tape and prevent the leading edge from being retracted into the dispenser. Upon drawing the dispenser rearwardly with the lower edges parallel to the surface, the resilience of the tongue causes the radiused end portion to press the tape down to the surface.

  • Patent number: 4400231
Abstract: A one-piece, hand-held dispenser/applicator includes an element extending radially from a generally planar frame. A tape rest supports the lead end of the tape when the tape is not being used. A pressing surface and an adjoining cutting edge are also formed integrally with the element. At rest, the tip of the lead end of the tape extends in front of the pressing surface. In use, the operator applies the lead end of the tape to an object by pressing the pressing surface against the non-adhesive side of the tape. The operator then draws the dispenser/applicator over the object while continually applying pressure to the pressure surface. When the exact amount of tape has been dispensed and applied, the contiguous cutting edge severs the tape by a simple wrist motion. The device permits direct, one-hand, accurate taping and eliminates inconveniences such as curling and wrinkling the tape.

The bearing element is automatically lifted and positioned in response to movement of the roll against a camming surface during attachment of the roll to the roll holder. A detachably securable auxiliary roll holder applies tape along the normally free edge of the paper sheet. Also disclosed is an auxiliary tape dispenser carried by the frame of a portable masking machine.

Abstract: A stake flag consists of a segment of flagging strip adhesively secured to the end of a wire stake. The apparatus includes a roller chain conveyor, driven at a continuous rate of speed, having fixed carriers for conveying the stakes transversely in parallel spaced relation. A conveyor for a strip of flagging material carries the strip in a path coincident with the path of the wire stakes, with one end of the stakes overlying the strip. A stake hopper, with automatic release, releases stakes sequentially to the conveyor carriers; and a glue gun deposits a quantity of glue on each stake end, and on the adjacent underlying portion of the strip, to provide immediate adhesion of the stake and strip. A rotating cutter blade coacts with a backing roller to sever the flagging strip into flagging segments adhering to respective stakes; and a rotating mechanism rotates the stake in the conveyor, after severance, to fold and press the segment onto itself and onto the stake.
