    Abstract: Bushings are embedded within a production drill plate to replicate the hole pattern of a master hole pattern plate. The exterior surface of each bushing is threaded, as is the wall of a receiving hole in the production drill plate. The pitch of the bushing and hole are the same but the pitch diameters are somewhat different so that the threads of the bushing are loosely engaged within the threads of the hole. When the bushing is potted in a properly aligned position, the containment potting material becomes compressed in the thread engagement area thereby resisting axial displacement of the bushing.

    Abstract: In a method of manufacturing trim panels which are made of several trim components or trim materials, such as door trim panels of automobiles, the trim panel is essentially finished in a single work operation in one work station. A vinyl cover film (12) is formed, trim inserts (10, 11) are laminated onto the cover film with the aid of a nesting die (8a, 8b), soft touch inserts (26) are laminated underneath the cover film and the so produced laminate is further laminated onto a rigid substrate (2 or 2'). The substrate may be a prefabricated substrate (2), or may be a rigid foam substrate (2') back-foamed onto the formed vinyl film (12). An apparatus for carrying out the method is essentially a forming station with an upper form or mold (1) and a lower form or mold (15). The lower mold (15) includes nest dies (8a, 8b) for securely holding and then pressure laminating the trim inserts (10, 11), whereby a high placement precision of the inserts (10, 11) is achieved.

    Abstract: A carpet and pad installation avoids the need for stretching and tackless strips by utilizing a pad with pressure-sensitive adhesive on one surface. The pad is first laid on the floor surface and trimmed as required, with either the adhesive surface down to adhere to the floor, or with the adhesive surface up and another adhesive applied to the floor prior to laying the pad. A removable release film may cover the pressure-sensitive adhesive on the pad, so that with the adhesive side up the carpet may be unrolled over the release film and then cut and seamed as required. The seamed carpet is folded back and the release film is removed from the exposed area of the carpet cushion, then the carpet is pressed down onto the exposed area of adhesive. Then another portion of the carpet is folded back, the release film is removed from that area, and that portion of the carpet is pressed onto the exposed pressure-sensitive adhesive of the carpet cushion.

    Abstract: A method of effecting practical, simple and economical production of ore-concentrating pads of numerous configurations and sizes.     Abstract: An article is attached to a wall by mounting the article on at least one and preferably two or more holders which are in turn screwed to the wall. Each holder has a self-adhesive layer at its end face adjacent the wall and at least one screw hole for fixing it to the wall. The arrangement is such that the holders can be provisionally mounted on the article and then pressed against the wall in the desired position. The self-adhesive layers then temporarily secure the holders to the wall so that the article can be removed leaving the holders in the desired position on the wall. The screw holes in the holders are then used as a drilling jig for drilling the attachment holes in the wall. Screws are then inserted into the attachment holes, if necessary using wall plugs, and the article is then remounted on the holders. Provision is made for finally securing the article to the holders, for example by the use of spring loaded pins.

    Abstract: A method of effecting practical, simple and economical production of ore-concentrating pads of numerous configurations and sizes. Nails are employed to secure extruded strips to a backing sheet and an underlying support, following which the strips are pivoted about the nails and progressively secured to the backing sheet. The nails are then removed and the resulting pad is vacuum-applied to a concave bowl and adhesively secured therein. The shapes and positions of the strips are such that there is very close sealing engagement between adjacent strips, after the pad is made into bowl shape, yet there is great elasticity permitting practical vacuum application to the bowl. In one embodiment, the strip-formed pad is used as a mold over which plaster of paris is molded, and the plaster of paris is used as a guide for a tracing machine adapted to make a mold for the mass-manufacture of large numbers of concentrating pads.

    Abstract: A method of fabricating an insulating joint between a pair of end abutting rail sections of a railroad track includes the suspension of a pair of opposed fishplates at the rail joint at spaced distances outwardly of the rail sides, and simultaneously heating the rail sections and the fishplates to a predetermined temperature for activating a heat-activatable adhesive provided in fabric cuffs which are disposed between the fish surfaces and the fishplates. The fishplates are shifted along guide rods of their support assemblies inwardly toward one another into place against opposed fish surfaces of the rail sections, and are thereafter bolted in place. A device for fabricating the joint includes a box-like hood on which heaters are mounted, or a shear assembly supporting the heaters and being clamped onto the rail head. The heaters may be adjusted to accommodate various rail profiles.

The article may be formed in different configurations for covering plumbing openings, exterior corners and elongated stress cracks or seams.The wallboard is repaired by cutting a recess into and through the paper surface lamination of said wallboard to the outline of the plate portion of the repair article.

    Abstract: A method of making an artistic picture or design with strands of yarn. A flat yieldable substrate has the outline of various elements of a picture or design on a painted background and which may have the colored yarn to be used indicated within each outlined portion. The steps of the method includes cutting a length of yarn of the selected color, doubling the yarn, and piercing the doubled end with a straight pin which is pushed into the substrate at a selected point on design. In one technique, the doubled yarn is loosely twisted and a pin inserted through the two strands about one inch from the point of beginning. The length between the pins is formed into an upstanding loop by pushing the pin into the substrate immediately adjacent the first pin. This process is repeated until the entire area is covered with upstanding loops of yarn thereby forming an interesting texture over the area. The remainder of the areas are then similarly covered with appropriate colors of yarn.
