  • Patent number: 10352089
Abstract: A jack screw-type fastener with a head defining an interior aperture with a Phillips pattern in the top and in communication with a central channel sized and shaped to receive a fastener therethrough for structurally reinforcing the window jamb of a window frame. The jamb adjuster includes a series of oversized and narrowly oriented threads relative to commercially available threaded fasteners (about 50% larger than average), frictionally engaging a greater ratio of the window frame wall depth than conventional. In use, the jamb adjuster is a self-tapping screw member that renders unnecessary a receiver, reducing component cost and structural degradation, and instead displacing a portion of the window frame material, for example vinyl, during insertion, causing a more structurally secure attachment to the window frame. The jamb adjuster also provides a more robust attachment mechanism for vital weather stripping than other fasteners or adhesive as known in the art.

Abstract: Apparatus and methods for generating repeatable closure of a volume measurement chamber are provided. More particularly, in one embodiment of the present invention, a dual articulating hinge is used to affix a chamber door to a volume measurement chamber, providing repeatable closure of a chamber door. In another embodiment of the invention, a laterally compliant magnetic latch is used to fasten a chamber door to a volume measurement chamber. In a third embodiment, a chamber door lid is mounted to a hinge bar via a ball joint, allowing the chamber door lid to self center about the chamber opening.

  • Patent number: 6845547
Abstract: A vehicular door hinge mechanism provides for a motion in two different directions at two different portions of the door's motion cycle. The present invention provides a hinge which allows the door of the vehicle to move outwards in a substantially horizontal plane for a predetermined arc, then move vertically upwards on another predetermined arc thereafter. The invention comprises a hinge mechanism having a chassis mounting plate and a swingarm. Between them is either a pivotal bearing or a hinge designed to allow the staged two dimensional motion of the invention. A spring or cylinder is connected at its ends to the chassis mounting plate and the swingarm. A horizontal pressure bearing surface and a cam adjuster cooperate to provide strength and precise fit of the door with the vehicle.

  • Patent number: 6845544
Abstract: A hinge for articulating a door to a frame of a piece of furniture includes a base plate mounted on the frame. The base plate bears a hinge arm to which a hinge boss is articulated by a hinge pin. An intermediate member is positioned between the hinge arm and the base plate. The base plate, the intermediate member and the hinge arm are connected by a pin. The intermediate member is tiltable with respect to the base plate by virtue of an adjustment screw, and the hinge arm is linearly moveable on the intermediate member in a direction of the depth of the piece of furniture.

Abstract: The invention concerns a cabinet hinge with an adjusting device that is directly or indirectly on the cabinet side, single or multi-part mounting plate stored hinge arm, that is connected jointed with a door-side stop part, so that the adjusting device has a side adjusting screw by means of which the hinge arm's position perpendicular to the mounting plate can be changed to the door's side adjustment. The side adjusting device has a side adjusting screw with at least one eccentric- or cam disks so that by turning the side adjusting screw, a side adjustment and, at the same time, a parallel shifting of the hinge arm relative to the mounting plate occurs, resulting in a correction of the door's depth adjustment for an amount.

  • Patent number: 6647591
Abstract: This invention relates to hinges for mounting a door on a furniture article frame. The hinges include at least a hinge cup member adapted to be affixed to the furniture door and a top hinge arm segment pivotably connected to the hinge cup member and having a top center hole and a top elongated aperture with one end open to the top center hole. Various intermediate hinge arm segments and base hinge arm segments can be used with the top hinge arm segment to allow adjustments to be made in two or three directions. In some embodiments, turning an adjustment screw allows adjustments to be made horizontally from side-to-side so that the desired spacing of the door from opposite sides of the door opening can be set. In some embodiments, turning a cam screw allows adjustments to be made horizontally in-and-out so that the desired alignment of the door with the front face of the furniture article frame can be set.
