  • Patent number: 4598889
Abstract: A hinge for control surfaces of model aircraft, comprising a first hinge member formed with a lateral keyhole slot for removably engaging a lateral barbell portion of a second hinge member. The first hinge member is preferably attached to a fixed structure of the aircraft with the second hinge member attached to a control surface, such as, an aileron or elevator. Relative rotation of one hinge member with respect to the other hinge member allows the lateral barbell portion to operatively engage or disengage from the lateral keyhole slot. When engaged, the operatively coacting hinge members provide rotating hinge action between the control surface and the fixed structure of the aircraft.

  • Patent number: 4530412
Abstract: A wrap around type hood for a vehicle engine compartment has integral fenders giving a rear edge which is curved and does not lie in a plane. A roller hinge mechanism guides the rear edge of the hood from a closed position upwardly and forwardly to an intermediate open position from where it can be rotated to a fully open position without binding the rear edge. The combined guiding support and secondary latch of the invention guides the front of the hood during this movement. A forwardly sloped open slot in a guide bracket mounted to the front of the engine compartment guides a pin on the front of the hood to guide the hood to the intermediate open position. A spring biased keeper lever pivoted to the guide bracket stays with the pin as it moves to keep it secondarily latched to the vehicle. When the keeper lever is pushed back, the hood is released to be rotated to the fully open position.

  • Patent number: 4492215
Abstract: A portable grill is provided which includes a housing having a base for supporting a burner therein, a pair of spaced apart front and rear walls, a pair of spaced apart side walls, and a cover. Each wall in each pair of walls releasably interlocks with each associated wall of the other pair of walls. At least one of the walls is detachably mountable to the base. The cover is hingeably attachable to one of the walls when that wall is erected on the base and is hingeably attachable to the base when the walls are detached from the base to form a portable housing. A collapsible stand may also be provided for supporting the erected grill housing.

  • Patent number: 4383488
Abstract: A folding stool including a top having a depending peripheral skirt and support leg members operatively mounted on the underside of the top, and inward of the peripheral skirt. Leg members are mounted at opposite ends of the stool. Each leg member includes two legs interconnected as a pair. The leg members are pivotally moveable to an extended stool support position, and to a retracted folded position within the confines of the skirt. Selectively engageable double leg locking means are provided, with portions thereof being on the stool top and portions thereof being on the legs of the leg members. The locking means are functionally operable for locking the leg members in the extended stool support position. Engagement and disengagement of the double locking means is manually effected by rectilinear movement of the leg members, toward the stool top when in the extended stool support position. Pivotal movement of the leg members is prevented with the locking means operatively engaged.

  • Patent number: 4372007
Abstract: A releaseable hinge mechanism for use with a cover member, a bottom housing member having a deflectable support wall and a top housing member having a facing margin adjacent the support wall. A hinge is connected to the cover member and includes a central elongate portion terminating in a flatted distal end with a pair of flanking pivot pin portions received in a pair of cradle members located on the support wall. A compound bracket located on the facing margin has a spaced pair of relatively inflexible brace portions in facing relation with the flatted distal end and normally engaged in surface contact with the flatted end when the cover member is opened. The compound bracket includes a deflectable finger located between the pair of brace portions and arranged for surface contact with a pressure finger located on the top edge of the flatted distal end when the cover member is moved between a closed position and the opened position.

  • Patent number: 4345354
Abstract: This invention relates to a hinge mechanism for joining a first member to a second member. The first member, or a cassette cover of a tape recorder is elastically deformable. A pair of pins are coaxially fixed to the cassette cover. Each one of the pins has a base end fixed to the cassette cover and a free end. The second member, or a housing of the tape recorder has a recess which is defined by a bottom surface and a peripheral surface. A pair of grooves are formed in the housing. Each one of the grooves has an upper end portion which opens in the peripheral surface and rotatably receiving one of the pins. Each one of the grooves also has a lower portion which opens in a portion of surfaces of the second member which is located in the direction of the depth of the recess. A pair of flanges are formed at the base ends of the pins.

  • Patent number: 4345697
Abstract: A hinge assembly which allows pivotal movement between first and second panels of at least 90.degree. and which allows separation of the two panels anywhere along the pivotal movement. The assembly has a hinge member formed of a single piece of bent sheet metal. The hinge assembly comprises a first portion located on the first panel, a lip extending substantially perpendicularly from the first portion, and a hinge member rigidly coupled to the first panel and having an intermediate portion extending substantially perpendicularly from the first panel and a leg extending substantially perpendicularly from the intermediate portion towards the lip. The distal edge of the lip and the distal edge of the leg define a slot which receives a second portion located on the second panel to thereby pivotally couple the first and second panels.

  • Patent number: 4330219
Abstract: An upper cover for a line printer in which an upper cover hood can be easily opened forwardly to permit full maintenance of the printing mechanism. The upper cover hood is pivotally coupled through a rear hinge holder to a forwardly-extending support member via a balance holder. A balancing mechanism is pivotally coupled at one end to the balance holder. At the front end of the support member a hook member is hingedly attached, the other end of which is adapted to be swung into position and coupled to a pin which is rigidly coupled to a side wall of the upper cover hood. A cushioning packing is disposed along the front edge of the upper cover hood.
