  • Publication number: 20100269302
Abstract: In general, the present invention concerns preventing the movement of a door beyond a certain preset angle using a mechanism that is integrally formed in a door hinge. In embodiments, the invention includes a device comprises a standard hinge with the addition of a pair of stopping knuckles integrally formed on both sides of the hinge in an opposing position. The stopping knuckles do not wrap around the hinge pin like normal knuckles, instead they are formed to protrude out at a predetermined angle for a small length. This device is mounted like any normal hinge and when opened to the predetermined angle the stopping knuckles will abut against each other and stop the door from opening any further, thereby preventing any damage to the wall that might be struck by a portion of the door. This is important in that many door hinges will be allowed to rotate freely and frequently a part of the door will strike the structure that is located behind the door.

When turning the mounting frame with the locating member relative to the slide and the shaft member within a predetermined angle, the mounting frame is returned or positioning in a position within an angle. When turning the mounting frame over the first predetermined angle, the sliding protrusions of the locating member are moved along the sliding protrusions of the slide, and the mounting frame is returned when the sliding protrusions of the locating member do not move over the peaks of the sliding protrusions of the slide, or the mounting frame is automatically turned relative to the shaft member through an angle when the sliding protrusions of the locating member are moved over the peaks of the sliding protrusions of the slide.

Abstract: An angle-limiting hinge has a stationary leaf, a pivoting leaf, a pintle and a limiting element. The pintle is mounted statically in the stationary leaf and rotatably in the pivoting leaf, thereby allowing the leaves to rotate relative to each other and the pintle has a limit. The limit is C-shaped, formed diametrically around the pintle and comprises two ends being positive stops. The limiting element is mounted around the pintle and is secured to the pivoting leaf and has a limiting block mounted securely in the limiting element using riveting. The limiting block is disposed between the positive stops of the limit to limit relative rotational angles of the leaves. Accordingly, the angle-limiting hinge fastens and facilitates fabrication and is capable of limiting the rotational angle of the leaves.

Abstract: An example hinge includes a hinge pin extending along an axis and a first knuckle for receiving the hinge pin. The first knuckle is rotatable about the axis. A second knuckle for receiving the hinge pin and is rotatable about the axis. At least one bearing limits relative rotation between the first hinge knuckle and the hinge pin. The example hinge assembly may include a tolerance ring between the hinge pin and the first knuckle to urge the bearing away from the axis. An example method of producing a hinge includes the steps of permitting a first hinge plate to move relative a hinge pin and limiting movement of a second hinge plate relative a hinge pin. The method biases a bearing adjacent the hinge pin to limit movement of the second hinge plate relative the hinge pin.

Abstract: A biaxial hinge device, rotates a second member with regard to a first member around a first axis for opening and closing in a vertical direction, and rotates the second member with regard to the first member around a second axis in a horizontal direction. The hinge has a vertical direction rotation controlling mechanism of the second member having the first axis, and a horizontal direction rotation controlling mechanism of the second member having the second axis. A movable stopper is further mounted between a supporting member of the vertical direction rotation controlling mechanism and an attaching member of the horizontal direction rotation controlling mechanism, to which the supporting member is rotably attached. A rotation in a horizontal direction is therefore controlled within a range of predetermined angles, additionally further rotation in the same direction is available via pressing of the second member into the desired direction.
