  • Patent number: 6618876
Abstract: A bed headboard assembly that is entirely independent of support associated with any other part of a bed structure such as the mattress, spring or bed frame, embodies a generally soft, panel-like member having length and width dimensions that are substantially greater than its thickness. A fabric container encloses the panel and has an access opening for inserting and removing the panel. The access opening can be dosed with a zipper or hook-and-loop closure device. A rigid support member is coupled to the panel member parallel to one edge, so that the panel can be suspended from the support when said support is hung on a wall next to a bed. Each valance attachment holds a decorative insert, which may be a conventional valance or a drapery fabric panel assembly. Because the invention allows for multiple valance attachments in adjustable engagement with one another, and a variety of interchangeable decorative inserts, the multipurpose valance assembly creates a wide array of new decorative effects. In addition, a valance adapter allows the invention to be retrofit to preexisting window treatment systems, substantially reducing the labor and material costs associated with installing new window treatment systems.

  • Patent number: 5785188
Abstract: A valance for storing and displaying items such as stuffed animals or dolls. The valance has pouches formed on its front into which the items are placed. The pouches are provided with a spacer and/or loose fill for increasing the interior volume of the pouch, thereby giving the pouch a three-dimensional appearance. The spacer or fill may also serve to elevate the items so that they are visible over the front flap of the pouch. The valance may be two pieces of fabric sewn together to form pouches bound by the seams. Alternatively, the valance may be a piece of fabric having loops, through which a scarf-like second piece of fabric is threaded. The droop of the scarf between the loops forms the pouches into which the items are placed.

  • Patent number: 5597025
Abstract: A sectioned window cornice may be adapted to various widths of windows and drapery support rods thereon. The cornice may be easily assembled from several identical, repeating panels with symmetrical attachment ends to provide for universal assembly of the panels to form a cornice of the desired length. The cornice may include a decorative bas relief or other pattern thereon, which pattern preferably repeats with each panel and is adapted to match exactly with the pattern of an adjoining panel, to avoid any unsightly perceived mismatch of shapes and patterns on the assembled cornice. The assembled modular sections are secured to the front surface of a drapery support rod or the like by hook and loop fastening material, thereby providing for assembly and installation without need of any tools and enabling the cornice to be assembled and installed by unskilled labor in a minimum amount of time and effort, and enabling an installed cornice to be removed and replaced easily, as desired.
