Abstract: A frame for a twin-wire press is disclosed including pairs of side members including upper and lower side members arranged on opposite sides of the press, between which upper and lower rolls are attached, a plurality of transverse beams arranged between the pairs of side members which themselves are sections of flat sheet metal and spacers for mutually releasably connecting the side members with the sheet metal being formed so that it permits a degree of curing in the vertical plane to facilitate access to the space between the upper and lower rolls. A method for exchanging wire in a twin-wire press of this type is also disclosed.

Abstract: A machine for the manufacture of a fiber material web (12), in particular a paper or card web, having a forming zone including at least one circulating endless dewatering belt (16, 18) includes at least one pressing zone (14) combined with a suction system.
Abstract: Methods for the concentration of a dilute material such as a fiber suspension are disclosed including enclosing the dilute material between a first straining belt and a second straining belt both moving through endless paths, and in which the width of the first straining belt is greater than the width of the second straining belt, and the method includes causing the longitudinal edges of the first straining belt to overlap the longitudinal edges of the second straining belt in an initial concentration stage, unfolding the longitudinal edges of the first straining belt and then further compressing the concentrated layer produced against the first straining belt in a further concentration stage. Apparatus for carrying out this method is also disclosed.
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for concentrating a liquid suspension of solid particles are disclosed including providing a screening web moving in an endless path, folding the screening web into a tubular configuration at a first location along that path, unfolding the screening web from that tubular configuration at a second location along that path, introducing the liquid suspension into the tubular configuration of the screening web proximate to the first location so that liquid can pass outwardly through the tubular configuration of the screening web and a concentrate of the solid particles can be formed therein, and removing the concentrate from the screening web proximate to the second location.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method and apparatus for the continuous filtration of material impregnated with liquid. This method is characterized in that pressure is exerted discontinuously on successive portions of the material to be filtered travelling continuously such that this pressure is applied to each portion of the material as it moves, over a predetermined distance, after which the pressure is no longer applied to this portion in order to be applied to the following portion of material.
Abstract: A shear roll is situated above an upper surface of a top run of a Fourdrinier fabric such that a lower portion of the shear roll is adapted to penetrate a pulp stock web situated on the Fourdrinier fabric. The shear roll is operated by an external source of power, the source of power adapted to drive the shear roll at a surface speed exceeding a linear speed of the fabric by greater than 3% and less than 8% of the speed of the fabric. The shear roll is situated at a location where a consistency of the pulp stock web considered on a fibre basis situated on the fabric is between 2% and 5 1/2%; and the shear roll adapted to provide a shearing action to fibre bundles and flocs situated in the pulp stock web as the pulp stock web passes between the shear roll and the fabric, there re-working the pulp stock web and re-forming the fibre network and smearing the flocs thereof.
