Wire Bottom Scrappers Or Deflectors Patents (Class 162/352)
  • Patent number: 10920373
Abstract: A method of operating a machine for producing a fibrous web. The machine has a de-watering device with a plurality of pivotally embodied de-watering strips. In the method, an inclination angle of at least one of the de-watering strips is modified as a function of at least one parameter. The modification is effected by way of the pivoting installation which is activated by a control installation. The actual inclination angle of the at least one de-watering strip to be pivoted is detected and transmitted to the control installation. The control installation activates the pivoting installation as a function of the transmitted inclination angle.

  • Patent number: 10132034
Abstract: The invention relates to a suction device (15) for use in a papermaking machine and being suitable for acting on a wet fibrous web through a permeable fabric (4, 6), e.g. a through-air-drying (TAD)-fabric. The suction device has a fabric-facing surface (18) formed by a plurality of end surfaces of solid elements (21, 22). Channels (24, 25) are defined between the solid elements. The end surface of the final solid element (22) does not lie in the same plane as the end surfaces of the previous solid elements (21). Thereby, a gap A is formed between the fabric (4, 6) and the final solid element (22). This allows air to flow through the gap and into a final channel (25). The air flow will then catch fines, small fibers and water droplets and draw them into the final channel (25) thereby counteracting a build-up of large lumps of fines and fibers.

  • Patent number: 8132527
Abstract: An electrode mixture paste (5) is applied on both sides of a strip of core material (1) as it runs along its lengthwise direction, and the coating thickness of the paste (5) is adjusted as the core material (1) coated with the paste (5) passes through a gap between a pair of scraper tools (16a, 16b). Tips (18) provided to the scraper tools (16a, 16b) scrape off the paste (5) to form a paste-coated portion of a predetermined width. The electrode mixture paste (5) scraped off with the tips (18) is returned through recesses (19) on the upstream side of the tips (18) in the running direction of the core material, so as to prevent the phenomenon where the coating thickness is increased at both side edges of the paste-coated portion. Thus, a method for applying electrode mixture paste is realized that can prevent the phenomenon where the coating thickness is increased at both side edges of the paste-coated portion and prevent process failures such as deformation of paste-coated sheet.

  • Patent number: 8097122
Abstract: Segments, typically ceramic, for use in dewatering blades for papermaking and similar machines comprise lower surfaces to each of which at least one interlock member is bonded. The segments are installed by inserting the interlock members into a channel in an intermediate sub-assembly or base member. The members are securely attached within the channel by a suitable adhesive, or clip means to engage the interlock members, with the optional addition of an adhesive. The segments and dewatering blades, and a method of manufacture, allows for the segments to be made as flat units, without unnecessary angular surfaces, simplifies their attachment to the base, and reduces the occurrence of stress cracking or other damage to the segments. A single segment can be used in various dewatering blade types and in more than one orientation in dewatering blades, reducing manufacturing costs by unitizing construction.

A pulp suspension jet is fed from a headbox (30) at an impact point after the shoe leading edge. The cover is straight at least in the area between the impact point of the pulp suspension jet and the trailing edge. • Patent number: 7141143
Abstract: The invention relates to a method of draining a fiber pulp suspension, where the fiber pulp suspension is applied to a convergent dewatering space arranged between two wires travelling in the same direction. In the dewatering space, water and powdery substance are removed from the fiber pulp suspension through the wires. Pressure pulses are generated in the fiber pulp suspension along the length of the dewatering space with pressure pulse elements that are on opposite sides of the wires relative to the fiber pulp suspension and in contact with or at a distance from the wires. The invention also relates to an apparatus according to the method.

  • Patent number: 6984291
Abstract: A process, and an apparatus, for improving sheet properties in a twin fabric paper making machine forming section whereby pressure pulse generation in the stock can be controlled. The pressure pulses are controlled by mounting a vacuum assisted skimmer blade (15) supported by an adjustable resilient support means (18) so that its height can be altered, and so that it can respond to transient changes in the stock layer thickness. The resilient and adjustable support means (18) itself is supported by a vacuum drainage box (10), which serves to capture at least the major proportion of the fluid skimmed of by the skimmer blade (15). This apparatus the position of the skimmer blade (15) to be altered in two ways without stopping the paper making machine. The skimmer blade (15) can be located either so that it is out of contact with the forming fabric (3), or so that it can be in contact with the forming fabric.

  • Patent number: 6982025
Abstract: An adjustable resilient blade support for use in the forming section of a papermaking machine. The blade support is adjustable, both to allow the attached blade to be moved from a position where it is out of contact to a position where it is pressed into contact with the adjacent forming fabric, and to permit adjustment of the blade orientation relative to the surface of the forming fabric. The blade support is also resilient, and thus allows the blade to respond to transient localized changes in the path of the forming fabric with which it is in contact. The adjustable resilient blade support of this invention is thus of use in an open surface forming section, and also is of use in forming sections in which two forming fabrics are used.

Abstract: A paper former comprises two wires which converge for defining a paper production gap and a plurality of dewatering blades arranged in the paper production gap in a paper producing direction and brought into sliding contact with one of the two wires so that a stock is dehydrated while being conveyed in a state put in the paper production gap. Each of the plurality of dewatering blades is shaped into a convexly curved surface configuration bent along a traveling direction of the wires and equipped with a wire sliding contact surface brought into sliding contact with said wire for guiding the traveling of said wire, and grooves are made in said wire sliding contact surfaces as a moisture run-off opening for running off moisture developing through the dewatering from the wire side. This paper former thus constructed can suppress the occurrence of paper defects stemming from the landing of a material jet or paper defects stemming from the dewatering property, thus improving the paper quality.

Abstract: A process, and an apparatus, for improving sheet properties in the initial impingement zone of a paper making machine including a forming section, a forming fabric moving in the machine direction and a head box having a head box slice which delivers a stock jet onto the moving forming fabric. The scale and intensity of agitation within the stock is adjusted by adjusting some of the support elements beneath the forming fabric adjacent the head box slice so that they either contact, or do not contact, the machine side surface of the forming fabric and observing the effect, if any, that the adjustment has on the quality of the sheet product being made on the paper making machine.
