  • Patent number: 10126038
Abstract: The present invention provides a refrigerator, comprising a storage compartment and a mixed air passage. Both ends of the mixed air passage have air inlets, the middle portion of the mixed air passage comprises a mixed air outlet communicating with the storage compartment, and the mixed air passage is configured to receive air flows from the two air inlets such that two air flows enter the storage compartment in a mixed manner via the mixed air outlet. The refrigerator of this invention comprises a mixed air passage, so that the air in an area of the storage compartment with a relatively high temperature can enter the mixed air passage earlier than external air or the air in the storage compartment with a relatively low temperature. Then, the two air flows are blown to the storage compartment in a mixed manner, realizing even temperature distribution in the storage compartment.

Abstract: A recirculating bath includes a main power input configured to receive an alternating current and a heating element that is selectively coupled to the main power input. The heating element is selectively coupled to the main power input in response to an activation signal having a duty cycle. The duty cycle of the activation signal is determined based on a voltage of the alternating current, with the duty cycle being reduced in response to an increase in the voltage of the alternating current. The heating element is thereby de-rated at higher alternating current voltages. A power unit coupled to the main power input provides direct current having a voltage independent of the alternating current voltage to portions of the recirculating bath, such as direct current motors coupled to a compressor and recirculating pump. The recirculating bath is thereby configured to operate with a range of alternating current voltages.

Abstract: Apparatus and method are provided for cooling an electronic component. The apparatus includes a refrigerant evaporator in thermal communication with a component(s) to be cooled, and a refrigerant loop coupled in fluid communication with the evaporator for facilitating flow of refrigerant through the evaporator. The apparatus further includes a compressor in fluid communication with a refrigerant loop, an air-cooled heat sink coupled to the refrigerant evaporator, for providing backup cooling to the electronic component in a backup, air cooling mode, and a controllable refrigerant heater coupled to the heat sink. The refrigerant heater is in thermal communication across the heat sink with refrigerant passing through the refrigerant evaporator, and is controlled in a primary, refrigeration cooling mode to apply an auxiliary heat load to refrigerant passing through the refrigerant evaporator to ensure that refrigerant in the refrigerant loop entering the compressor is in a superheated thermodynamic state.

Abstract: A container protector, which is capable of heating or cooling a liquid within the container. The heating or cooling is achieved using a heating jacket or a cooling packet which is present or placed within the container protector. Heat transfer from the heating jacket or cooling packet may be improved by use of an agitator which is present within the container. The agitator may be turned by a magnetic coupling. Power to operate the heating jacket or the agitator is supplied by a battery which is internal to the container protector, and additional power may be supplied through the battery using an external power feed such as a USB type connection.

Abstract: A cooling and heating system with a first heat exchange loop and a second heat exchange loop. The first heat exchange loop uses a first heat transfer fluid that is passed through a compression/evaporation refrigeration cycle to cool a refrigerated space and to collect waste heat, and then pumps that heat transfer fluid to a remote heat pump in the winter where the waste heat is used to provide warm air. The first heat exchange system may also pump some or all of the first heat transfer fluid to a remote water heater where the waste heat is used to heat water. The heat transfer fluid is then passed through an underground portion where it is cooled to about 55°. The second heat exchange loop uses a second heat transfer fluid to cool the heat pump in the summer, and may pump that second heat transfer fluid to a remote water heater where waste heat is used to heat water.

In a cooling stage, the CO2 refrigerant from the compression stage releases heat. A pressure-regulating unit in a line extending from the cooling stage to one side of a heat exchanger maintains a pressure differential. A second refrigerant cycles in a cooling circuit between a second side of the heat exchanger and an ice-playing surface. Abstract: In an air-conditioning system for motor vehicles, the radiator for heating the passenger compartment is excluded from connection to the circuit for cooling the engine when heating of the passenger compartment is not required. In this condition, a mixing valve is set in an intermediate position, in which part of the flow of air leaving the evaporator of the system flows directly in the passenger compartment of the motor vehicle, keeping it cooled, while part of the flow of air leaving the evaporator flows through the aforesaid heating radiator, which in this condition functions as accumulator of cold. When the cooling circuit is temporarily deactivated, cooling of the passenger compartment can be ensured by the radiator, that yields the previously accumulated cold.
