Horizontally Angularly Adjustable Group Patents (Class 172/584)
  • Patent number: 7832345
Abstract: An apparatus that cleanly severs and clears crop debris from a planting row or closes a furrow while causing minimal disturbance to the soil. The residue coulter apparatus comprises a pair of flat discs each having a plurality of back swept teeth extending about their periphery. The teeth include a beveled cutting edge on the outer edge of the teeth adapted to sever residue from the field or close a furrow. The discs are oriented substantially vertical to the ground. Two discs are used in combination to clear a pathway for planting seed or for closing a furrow.

  • Patent number: 7810579
Abstract: A ground opener that is allowed to caster in one direction is associated with a pair of arms connected by a pivot connection that allows one arm to move relative to the other arm. The movable arm is forced against the stationary arm when the ground opener impacts the soil as the ground opener is pulled along a relatively straight travel path. When the ground opener is turned radially from the straight travel path, the movable arm may cast away from the stationary arm. The disc opener is coupled to the movable arm through a central hub and, as such, the trailing edge of the disc opener will move away from the stationary arm as the disc opener is turned. When the disc opener has completed the turn, the torque on the disc opener will lessen thereby allowing the movable arm to move back toward the stationary arm.

  • Patent number: 7240627
Abstract: A residue coulter apparatus that cleanly severs and clears crop debris from a planting row, causing minimal disturbance to the soil. The residue coulter apparatus comprises a pair of flat discs each having a plurality of back swept shark type teeth extending about their periphery. The teeth include a double beveled cutting edge on the outer edge of the teeth adapted to sever residue from the field. The clearing discs are oriented substantially vertical to the ground. Two clearing discs are used in combination to clear a pathway for planting seed. The clearing discs are angled toward each other so that the leading edges of the clearing discs are pointed in a toe-in orientation. The present design effectively removes crop debris without over discharge and causes minimal soil disturbance.

  • Patent number: 5915481
Abstract: A tillage implement adapted to be towed by a tractor. The tillage implement having on-the-go angle adjustable disc blades which enables the farmer to vary the amount of crop residue left on the surface of the soil. The implement is comprised of a main frame, a ground wheel assembly operably and pivotally connected to the main frame, a first actuator for pivotally raising and lower the ground wheel assembly with respect to the main frame. The tillage implement further comprising a plurality of disc blade assemblies, the disc blade assemblies arranged as a disc gang. The disc gang being pivotally connected to the main frame such that a second actuator can act to raise and lower the disc gang with respect to the main frame. Each of the disc blade assemblies having first and second disc blades rotatably mounted on disc blade axles fixed to first and second interlocking members.

  • Patent number: 5878821
Abstract: A tillage implement with on-the-go angle and depth controlled discs. The toolbar upon which the discs are mounted is pivotally secured to the wheeled implement frame assembly and may be hydraulically pivoted to raise or lower the discs relative to the frame assembly. In addition, the discs are secured to the toolbar in pairs and are angularly adjustable with respect to each other, and to the direction of motion of the implement, through a pair of hydraulically actuated gears.

  • Patent number: 5477931
Abstract: This is a machine for forming V-ditches for the irrigation of soil. The machine consists of a central frame with a two wheel carriage and plows of subassemblies. Each plow consists of a right subassembly and a left subassembly universally connected to the right and left sides respectively of the central frame. Each plow forms an acute horizontal angle with the central frame. The acute angle is fixed by the use of chains, having one part adjacent to an end attached to the central frame and another part of the chain adjacent to the opposite end, attached to the extended end of the subassembly. Each subassembly contains concavo-convex rotatable discs mounted parallel to each other on a common axle. The discs are assembled so that the concave side of the discs penetrate the soil when the machine is moved forward by a suitable draft device.

  • Patent number: 5462123
Abstract: The working depth of obliquely angled disc gangs on the implement can be readily adjusted from the tractor seat with a single hydraulic cylinder through the use of mechanical linkage that couples the hydraulic cylinder with all of the disc gangs for simultaneous movement. Special pivots that join the gangs to the main frame permit the gangs to be manually angled adjusted without affecting depth, and vice-versa, while quick-release locks securely hold the gangs in their selected angular positions yet permit rapid adjustment.

  • Patent number: 5082064
Abstract: A tillage implement which has both deep tillage subsoil shanks at the rear of the machine and relatively shallow running, residue cutting and topsoil mixing discs at the front of the machine provides for expeditious depth adjustment of the discs through spacer blocks that may be inserted between the underside of the frame of the implement and the tops of the gang beams. The blocks are designed to be clamped in position beside pivot bolts and angle retaining bolts of the gangs such that the blocks may be inserted or removed by merely loosening the bolts instead of completely removing the same and without interfering with the ability of the gangs to be angle adjusted fore-and-aft. The configuration of the blocks is such that they may be stacked one upon the other to provide an increased range of depth adjustment without sacrificing rigidity of construction.

  • Patent number: 5078216
Abstract: A combination tillage apparatus for towing behind a tractor comprises an extended frame having a trunk member oriented along the direction of travel of the apparatus and at least one pair of parallel and spaced apart branch members oriented perpendicularly to the trunk member. Each one of a pluralilty of implements is mounted in a mounting mechanism and a stabilizing mechanism which provide independent angular, translational, and vertical adjustment of each of the implements relative to the frame. A first modified embodiment of the combination tillage apparatus allows angular adjustment of the implement relative to the stabilizing mechanism independently from the angular adjustment of the stabilizing mechanism relative to the frame.

  • Patent number: 4300853
Abstract: Apparatus for use in combination with a road working machine for mixing a liquid plasticizing agent within a layer of scarified road surface materal is disclosed. The apparatus includes an array of discs for lifting and turning the scarified road surface material and a nozzle supported in a position for spraying the liquid plasticizing agent upon the road surface material as it is lifted and turned by the discs. In a preferred embodiment, the discs are secured to a rotatable shaft which is mounted for angular movement through a plane lying transverse to the direction of travel so that the disc assembly may follow longitudinal undulations in the road surface.
