  • Patent number: 6683252
Abstract: A latching device is provided for a circuit pack having a cable retainer carried upon the front of the operating lever of the device. The cable retainer is oriented for positional and directional control of cable by directing cable longitudinally of the faceplate of the circuit pack and away from the fronts of other circuit packs within a shelf. Also provided is a combination of a latching device and two groups of covers. The combination enables a single latching device to be used upon circuit packs requiring security and non security conditions within a shelf. It also enables removal of a faceplate held to a faceplate mounting with the circuit pack in the shelf. An orifice in an operating lever of the device is accessible with a cover of the first group mounted upon the operating lever, as orifices in these covers align themselves with the orifice in the operating lever.

Abstract: A fitting that provides snap-in engagement of EMT to a panel. The fitting includes a hollow, tubular, electrically conductive electrical connector including a fastening arrangement on the leading end to allow snap-in engagement to a panel and a resilient, electrically conductive, cylindrical-shaped split ring within the trailing end to allow snap-in engagement of EMT. A plurality of locking tangs on the split ring are lanced longitudinally and bent inwardly to a smaller diameter than the outer diameter of EMT that the fitting will be used in conjunction with. Arcuate edges included on the leading ends of the locking tangs dig into the outer surface of the EMT thereby holding it fast to the trailing end of connector. The large contact area between the locking tangs and the EMT provide a large amount of surface contact between the locking tangs and the EMT, thereby improving continuity and lowering the millivolt drop.

Abstract: An improved liquid-tight connector that simplifies and vastly reduces the time and effort in securing non-metallic or metallic conduit to panels, junction boxes, or similar devices. The connector does not require a nut to secure its leading end to a panel or a compression nut to secure its trailing end to a conduit as is typically required with conventional liquid-tight connectors. The need to tighten nuts by hand or with hand tools is therefore eliminated. The connector allows connection of conduit to panels without the need to disassemble a portion of the connector and then reassemble again as in many prior art devices. The connector allows an installer to create a liquid-tight connection between a conduit and a panel by simply pushing a conduit into the trailing end of the connector and pushing the leading end of the connector into an aperture in the panel. Liquid-tight seals are created between the conduit and the connector and between the connector and the panel.

  • Patent number: 6600109
Abstract: Techniques for protecting and managing cables during storage and use are described. The apparatus of the invention is an integration of two functional components that are used with cables of all types. First is a protective component that protects the ends of cables, which are referred to as connectors. These connectors can be plugged into devices such as computers and peripheral devices such that the respective components can be interconnected. The second component is a cable management component, which is used to manage the length of the cable. A very common example of the second component and its use is a cable clip that secures a cable that is wound up in a coil. In a general sense, the invention is the combination of the protective component and the cable management component into a single apparatus.

Abstract: An accessory for immobilizing, an electrical device fitted into a longitudinal opening of a trunking base section and clipped directly to parallel clipping strips flanking the longitudinal opening includes a rigid member which is fitted transversely into the longitudinal opening of the trunking base section alongside an electrical device to stabilize locally the width of the longitudinal opening. The rigid member has on two parallel sides attachment arrangements adapted to cooperate with the clipping strips. The rigid member carries a locking lever one end of which has a bearing surface which bears on one of the clipping strips. The locking lever pivots between two positions, namely a rest position in which the bearing surface is at a distance from the clipping strip and a locking position in which the bearing surface is pressed against the clipping strip, exerting a pressure force thereon to lock the rigid member in position on the trunking base section.
