  • Patent number: 7408110
Abstract: A sealed electrical junction box includes a sectional housing containing a chamber and having an end wall that contains at least one access passage in which is mounted a sealing bush containing a longitudinal through bore. An annular internal sealing rib on the access passage wall cooperates with a corresponding circumferential groove in the outer circumferential surface of the bush, thereby to seal the space between bush and the access passage wall. To seal the space around an inserted conductor, there is mounted on the inner circumferential surface of the bush through bore at least one integral deformable sealing lip that engages the outer circumferential surface of a conductor inserted into the bush longitudinal bore. When the bush is not in use, the longitudinal bore thereof is sealed by a cylindrical plug that is inserted into the longitudinal bore.

  • Patent number: 6838616
Abstract: An enclosure is disclosed which is highly secure, permits access to a cabled network system only by one user at a time, permits visual and unequivocal observation of the security status of the enclosure, and prevents access to the interior thereof only by authorized persons. The enclosure has back, front and side walls and an interior, with all connections being internal. Limited interior access is provided only through a door and a service opening. Within the enclosure is a system connection device to the system, which is configured for access thereto by only a single user at a time. A lock secures door closure. Thus access to the cabled system through the enclosure is available only to one user at a time and must be obtained through the open door, with usage thereby being visually identifiable, and the door prevents unauthorized access.

  • Patent number: 6765147
Abstract: A pre-defined conduit knockout is formed as a unitary part of an electronics enclosure so that before its removal the knockout is joined to the housing at a continuous unbroken surface, thereby preventing debris and liquid from entering the housing from around the knockout. The knockout is bounded by a reduced thickness break-away section of an enclosure wall that shears apart to separate the knockout from the enclosure. The knockout is formed with a unitary, pocketed tool receptor adapted to receive a tool, such as a screwdriver or pliers, for twisting the knockout free of the housing without the need to apply an impact force, which could upset sensitive electronics in the enclosure. Methods of forming the knockout in, and removing it from, an electronics housing are also disclosed.

Abstract: An electrical box defining an electrical component enclosure for a device such as a receptacle, switch or wire for establishing connections. A wall of the box has mounting members, either flush or projecting above the surface, which mounting members define a bore for a nail or screw. The mounting means is exteriorly of the enclosure to comply with applicable codes. The bores are angularly oriented so an electrical fastener may install from the front of the box requiring a cut-out only slightly larger than the dimensions of the box. A fastener guide channel may be provided to assist to align the fastener with the bore when it is recessed. Preferably the box is fabricated by molding it from plastic such as phenolic material.
