Feedthrough Or Bushing Patents (Class 174/650)
  • Patent number: 7262372
Abstract: Leadthrough elements for waterproof or airtight leading through of one or several lines are often associated with a disadvantage in that the led-through lines are routed largely without protection, and in that the tight seal between the leadthrough element and the line deteriorates in the course of mechanical loads being exerted on the lines. According to one embodiment of the present invention, a leadthrough element is provided in which each line exits in such a way from the top of the leadthrough element that the line after exiting runs flat along the top of the leadthrough element. By integrating this leadthrough element in a floor panel of an aircraft, in particular an Airbus A380, an advantageous seal of the line leadthrough is ensured, wherein the leadthrough element protects the line against increased mechanical loads, and thus ensures a permanent seal of the line leadthrough, with said seal meeting the quality requirements of the aircraft industry even in the case of increased mechanical loads.

  • Patent number: 7244894
Abstract: A grommet routes a wire harness from an inner side of a vehicle door into a vehicle body. A depression wraps around an edge of the door with a first part on a hinge surface of the door and a second part on the inner side. The grommet has an elastic member for fitting within the first part and a rigid retainer member extending around the edge into the second part. The members are secured together. The elastic member has a grooved periphery for receiving a flange surrounding an opening linked to the first part of the depression. The retainer member is secured in the second part of the depression by a fastener inserted into an aperture in the second part. The members have passageways to route the harness around the edge of the door. Fins on an underside of the elastic member seal against the first part.

  • Patent number: 7244895
Abstract: A cost efficient electrical feedthrough is provided for forming a hermetic seal with a container and allowing a desired number of inputs to be connected between varied environmental conditions. The electrical feedthrough can be employed for environmental conditions including high pressures, high temperatures, low temperatures and the presence of corrosive gases. A first wire situated in a first environmental condition and a second wire situated in a second environmental condition are connected via a conducting material. The first environmental condition and the second environmental condition are separated by a divider having an opening for passing therethrough either the first wire or the second wire. A first seal extends from the divider to a material in contact with the conducting material.

  • Patent number: 7161087
Abstract: A module is mounted to a object with a fastener and a special washer. The fastener engages the object through a mounting opening in mounting portion of a module case. The washer has a first portion extending obliquely outward and downward to be deformed between the fastener head and an electrically non-conducting surface of the mounting portion and thus increase a mounting force on the module with mounting advancement of the fastener. The washer has a second portion extending axially into the internal opening to contact an electrically conducting insert therein and thus create a series electrical circuit from the typically grounded object through the fastener, washer and insert to a detecting circuit, which verifies that the module is securely mounted with a predetermined mounting force.

  • Patent number: 7105750
Abstract: A grommet mainly made of soft, pliable material has a flange section for sealing against a first side of a vehicle panel around an aperture through the panel. A groove separates the flange section from a conical section that tapers from the groove to a narrower tubular section for tightly fitting around a wire harness passed through the grommet. The conical section has a wider end adjacent the groove that presses against a second, opposite side of the panel when the groove receives an edge of the aperture and the grommet is seated on the panel. The conical section has a region that engages the edge of the aperture as the grommet is pulled to an installed position. A plurality of raised, hard, rigid contact pads are arranged in a circumferential row around the engagement region to provide low friction while sliding past the edge of the aperture when the grommet is pulled through the aperture.
