  • Patent number: 8970152
Abstract: An exemplary power supply assembly includes a drive device having a bus capacitor. A switch associated with an input side of the drive device selectively connects the drive device to a power supply. An inductor has an impedance that limits an amount of current supplied to the bus capacitor during an initial charging of the bus capacitor when the switch connects the input side of the drive device to the power supply. A restrictive circuit portion dampens a resonance effect of the inductor. The restrictive circuit portion has a resistance that allows the bus capacitor to charge quickly. The impedance of the inductor has a more significant effect on how quickly the bus capacitor charges than an effect of the resistance. A dampening factor of the restrictive circuit controls a voltage of the bus capacitor during the charging of the bus capacitor.

  • Patent number: 7882937
Abstract: An elevating machine control apparatus controls an inverter (4) to drive an AC motor (5) connected to the inverter (4) with AC power, and energizes a power generation braking resistor (13) to apply a brake during regenerative operation of the AC motor (5). The apparatus prohibits the elevating machine from starting operating and interrupts power supply to the power generation braking resistor (13) if the DC stage voltage of the inverter (4) has a ripple quantity of a set value or more when the elevating machine is being stopped. Alternatively, the apparatus commands the elevating machine to stop operating and interrupts power supply to the power generation braking resistor (13) if the DC stage voltage of the inverter (4) during regenerative operation is a reference value or less when the elevating machine is in operation.

  • Publication number: 20010045326
Abstract: An elevator system for the vertical transport of payloads in an aircraft is disclosed. The arrangement of the elevator system provides for the vertical transport of payloads in an aircraft which permits low-noise, reliably operating conveying between different levels of the aircraft and reliable stopping in the loading and unloading positions. The arrangement is characterized by low maintenance and low weight, in that the drive system has at least one closed belt for driving and for receiving the load of the elevator cabin, which belt is guided at either end of the mast on deflection rolls and has, between the deflection rolls, at least one freely accessible belt portion oriented parallel to the mast for fastening the elevator cabin and for the movement of the elevator cabin along the mast. The deflection rolls and the belt are provided with teeth which are adapted to one another and the belt is pretensioned in a defined manner.

  • Patent number: 5969303
Abstract: An emergency stop circuit for an elevator drive includes an emergency stop control (7) that selectively varies the current flowing in a field winding (4) of a direct current drive motor (M). During an emergency stop, the motor (M) operates as a generator and has an armature winding (1) loaded with a braking resistor (9) to apply a voltage, depending on the direction of movement of the elevator car, either by a first switch (10) and a second switch (11), or by a third switch (12) and a fourth switch (13). The switches (10, 11, 12, 13) are connected as an H-bridge between the windings (1, 4) and are controlled by the emergency stop control (7) depending on the deceleration required by the elevator car, for example by pulse operation depending based upon a preset deceleration value and a measured deceleration value from a deceleration sensor (14) mounted on the car.

  • Patent number: 5909017
Abstract: An elevator energy conservation system is disclosed comprising an elevator motor driven by generator having two power supplies. A primary power supply provides electricity to the generator when the elevator motor is in use, while a smaller power supply using significantly less electricity powers the generator while it is idling. The two power supply system has been shown to cut the electricity usage for standard elevators by fifty percent or more over extended periods of use. Moreover, the present invention in a preferred embodiment discloses a shaft which extends from the generator which can be used to power other local machines such as air conditioners, blowers, heaters, and DC motors.

  • Patent number: 5900597
Abstract: An elevator controller/solid state drive interface allows an existing relay logic passenger elevator controller to be retrofitted with either a DC or AC solid state drive replacing the motor generator set for DC hoist motors or the two-speed starter in AC systems. This interface can also allow systems utilizing a motor generator set and DC hoist motor to be retrofitted with an AC solid state drive and AC hoist motor while retaining the existing controller. The controller/solid state drive interface includes selectable dropping resistors to adapt to various control VDC from an existing elevator controller to a 24 VDC relay bank. An electrical circuit coupled to the relay bank (containing additional relays and timers) provides control signals to the solid state drive, which in turn provides the drive power to the hoist motor. Sequencing of specific control signals and creation of the functions necessary for proper operation of the solid state drive are provided within the controller/solid state drive interface.
