  • Patent number: 10883552
Abstract: A rotational coupling includes a rotor configured for rotation about a rotational axis. The rotor includes a hub disposed about the axis and configured to receive a shaft and a disc extending radially outwardly from the hub. An armature and electromagnet are disposed on opposite axial sides of the disc. The electromagnet is fixed against rotation. A bearing is disposed between the hub and the electromagnet. The hub and electromagnet engage the inner and outer races, respectively of the bearing on opposite axial sides of the bearing. A spacer is disposed radially inwardly of the electromagnet and engages the inner race of the bearing on the same axial side of the bearing as the electromagnet. An air gap separates the spacer from the electromagnet. A shield is supported by the spacer and extends radially outwardly therefrom such that a portion of the shield is axially aligned with the air gap.

  • Patent number: 10527111
Abstract: A drive assembly for a work vehicle includes an electric motor configured to rotate a driving shaft and a gear train configured to transmit torque between the driving shaft and a driven shaft. The drive assembly also includes a clutch member having an engaged position and a disengaged position. The clutch member is configured to allow torque transfer between the driving shaft and the driven shaft when in the engaged position. The clutch member is configured to prevent torque transfer between the driving shaft and the driven shaft when in the disengaged position. The clutch member is biased toward the disengaged position to prevent torque transfer in a direction from the driven shaft toward the driving shaft in an overspeed condition of the drive assembly.

  • Publication number: 20150083544
Abstract: A self-adjusting mechanism for a friction clutch is disclosed. The mechanism includes first and second hub members with mating ratchet teeth, and an adjustment arm having a non-slip connection with the first hub member for driving the first hub member in opposite rotational directions, and a worm gear which, when rotated, moves an adjustment ring of the clutch to adjust the friction surfaces to compensate for wear. The mechanism also includes a lost-motion connection located between the worm gear and the release mechanism of the clutch. The adjustment arm on the first hub member has a connection with the release mechanism of the clutch. The release mechanism is movable through an adjustment cycle during which the worm gear is rotated to move the adjustment ring of the clutch to adjust friction surfaces to compensate for wear.

  • Patent number: 8543304
Abstract: A method operates a clutch release system of a vehicle having an electrically actuable clutch release unit including a sensor for detecting a position of a release piston, a control unit for controlling the release piston as a function of a detected position of a clutch actuating device, and a sensor for detecting the position of the clutch actuating device. A characteristic curve function describes a relationship between the position of the clutch actuating device and the position of the release piston. The function is taken into consideration during actuation of the clutch release system to obtain a consistent clutch release at a defined position of the clutch actuating device despite progressive wear of the clutch release system.

  • Patent number: 8393451
Abstract: A rotational coupling device for use as a clutch, a brake, or a combination clutch and brake is provided having structure to compensate for wear on braking surfaces. The device includes an armature coupled to an output member and movable between positions of engagement with a rotor and a brake plate. The brake plate is coupled to a stationary field shell that houses a conductor on one side of the rotor opposite the armature and brake plate. The brake plate is axially spaced from the field shell and a removable shim or adjustable spacer is disposed between the brake plate and the field shell. Removal of the shim or adjustment of the spacer permit movement of the brake plate towards the field shell to compensate for wear in any of the clutch or brake engagement surfaces of the device.

  • Patent number: 8033364
Abstract: By rotating a regulating bolt about an axis thereof to move forward/backward with respect to a protrusion portion, a lever is rotated about a shaft portion of an adjusting member. Therefore, the shaft portion of an adjusting member is rotated together with the lever to adjust a gap formed between a disk and a piston. After the gap is adjusted, the regulating bolt is fastened owing to a lock nut and a screw hole of the protrusion portion to thereby fix an forward/backward position of the regulating bolt with respect to the protrusion portion. In addition, a fixing bolt is screwed into a screw hole of a second housing portion to thereby fix a rotational position of the lever. Accordingly, the rotational position of the lever is double-locked.
