Threaded Element Centered On Clutch Axis Patents (Class 192/111.6)
  • Patent number: 10167904
Abstract: An adjustment device (1) for a friction clutch (2), including at least the following components: a rotatable driving device (3); an adjustment spindle (4) having an axial direction, which is connected to the driving device in a rotationally fixed manner; a spindle nut (6), which is moved in the axial direction by rotation of the adjustment spindle; and an adjusting unit (7) for adjusting a distance (8) between an engagement device (9) and a pressure plate (10), which adjusting unit is adjusted by an axial motion of the spindle nut (6) in such a way that the axial direction (5) of the adjustment spindle (4) can be oriented parallel to a radial direction (11) of the friction clutch (2). Through the adjustment device here, it is possible to realize a robust functional unit that is sufficiently stiff with respect to the applied centrifugal forces and that has low production requirements, low weight, and low installation space.

Abstract: A friction clutch having a counter-pressure plate and a pressing plate that is rotationally fixed and axially movable in relation to the latter, a cover part which is firmly connected to the counter-pressure plate, a lever spring clamped between the pressing plate and cover part having an encircling power rim and levers extending radially inward and distributed around the circumference and support zones extending radially outward, a clutch plate having friction linings which may be brought into frictional engagement between the counter-pressure plate and the pressing plate dependent on an axial engaging force applied to the levers contrary to the effect of a lining resiliency, a compensation spring effectively countering the lining resiliency between the counter-pressure plate and the pressing plate, and an adjusting device having a drive spring in the form of an opened ring situated on the lever spring.

  • Patent number: 8459430
Abstract: An apparatus and system are disclosed for automatic centrifugal engagement of a clutch incorporating a friction disk that expands when rotated above a threshold speed. The apparatus may include a clutch basket, a clutch pack capable of coupling the clutch basket with a center clutch, a pressure plate that may be easily adjusted to create a gap between the pressure plate and the clutch pack and an expanding friction disk assembly that may take the place of one or more friction disks. The assembly expands under centrifugal force to provide automatic engagement of the clutch. A mechanism is provided to manually override the automatic engagement of the clutch with a clutch lever and with improved operational performance of the clutch lever versus previous automatic clutch systems.

  • Patent number: 7320390
Abstract: A clutch assembly outboard support comprising at least one bearing mounted to an outer structure in or near the clutch assembly, e.g. the clutch housing or protective cover, and mounted to or impacting upon the clutch assembly itself, to relieve the force applied to the inner support bearing of the transmission input shaft and to restrict clutch assembly motion regardless of the engine, starter drive or other forces applied to it. The increased clutch stability and alignment according to the present invention provide more complete clutch disengagement allowing for significantly improved transmission shifting characteristics by reducing or eliminating clutch drag during shifting.

  • Patent number: 7311183
Abstract: A clutch brake device comprising two concentric ring-shaped plate sections, threadably and adjustably secured together via four screws. The screws pass through the periphery of the exterior plate and extend into depressions on the interior plate. The interior plate has central tangs that engage keyway slots in an input shaft. The outer plate has tabs symmetrically positioned around its outer periphery, wherein the tabs can receive force from a rod, or the like, to move the outer plate relative to the inner plate to facilitate threaded relative adjustment. Each ring-shaped plate has thereon a frictional surface, wherein each frictional surface is dimensionally different from the other. An alternate embodiment comprises a camming member, having two slidably separable plates. The first plate rides up the ramp sections of a second plate, thereby causing the first plate to separate axially from the second plate and, thus, expand the clutch brake.
