  • Patent number: 10144248
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a torque transmitting bicycle freewheel coasting mechanism comprising a drive body, a driven body and rolling bearing elements supporting and spacing these bodies during coasting. The rolling element bearings are elastically deformable and, during the application of a sufficiently large driving force to the drive body, they deform to allow relative movement between the bodies to bring one body into contact with the other body. This movement is small and the load is carried directly from one body to the other body without damage to the rolling element bearings. The bodies are only highly loaded by drive loads during torque transmission. During coasting, the flexible balls or rollers spring back and support the bodies in a spaced relationship in a normal bearing fashion. The flexible rolling bearing elements are not hard so bearing raceways can be formed directly into the bodies.

Abstract: A first sprocket includes a first opening having a first diameter smaller than a radially outer diameter of a sprocket support portion of a bicycle rear hub assembly. A lock member includes a main body, a male thread portion, and a radial projection. The main body has a first axial end configured to pass through the first opening and a second axial end opposite to the first axial end in an axial direction. The male thread portion is provided to the first axial end and configured to engage with a female thread portion of the bicycle rear hub assembly in a state where a bicycle rear sprocket assembly is mounted to the bicycle rear hub assembly. The radial projection extends radially outwardly from the second axial end to restrict axial displacement of the first sprocket with respect to the sprocket support portion in the state.

Abstract: A planetary gear assembly comprising: a housing, which contains: a planetary carrier, a sun gear, at least one planetary gear, a ring gear, a coil spring; an input shaft; and an output shaft. The coil spring extends around at least a portion of the planetary carrier. The coil spring includes a first tang in communication with the ring gear and a second tang in communication with the housing. When torque is applied to the input shaft, the planetary carrier rotates within the coil spring in one or more driving directions so that torque is transferred to the output shaft. When no torque is applied to the input shaft and torque is applied to the output shaft, the coil spring constricts and provides sufficient contact force to the planetary carrier and housing to prevent the planetary carrier from moving relative to the housing in at least one of the driving directions.

  • Patent number: 9676233
Abstract: A bicycle hub apparatus may include a hub body, a driving ring, a freewheel body, and a ratchet unit. A plurality of driving teeth are sequentially formed around an inner periphery of the driving ring. Since the separated distances between two adjacent driving teeth is smaller, the driving ring comprises more driving teeth, and the number thereof is up to 155 teeth. Also, the ratchet unit comprises a plurality of engaging pieces, and each of the engaging pieces has numerous engaging teeth, and the sizes thereof are corresponding to the driving teeth. As a result, the bicycle hub apparatus in the present invention improves the efficiency of engaging process between the engaging teeth and the driving teeth, and further lowers the possibility of missing step and the risk of use.
