  • Patent number: 11300226
Abstract: A two-way or four-way water faucet dispenses near-boiling water on demand but has a safety interlock. A control valve assembly is attached to the faucet. The interlock uses two disks pressed into contact, each having a single projecting sector. One disk is fixed to the valve body. The other disk, fixed to the handle, slides against the first. The disks must be pulled apart by sliding the handle while it is being turned to superimpose the sectors and turn the control valve, connecting the faucet to the vented near-boiling water supply. A reed switch inside the fixed sector is activated by a magnet inside the rotatable sector and activates a near-boiling water pump.

  • Patent number: 9469281
Abstract: An external mount travel limiter for landing gear extension legs which employs a pair of mechanically-operable cross-port valves fluidly coupled to the hydraulic circuit that are operably synchronized for actuation based on movement of the telescoping upper and lower leg assemblies of the landing gear between respective extend and retract travel stop limit positions. The valves are connected to the leg assemblies via an external drive shaft which synchronously drives a valve actuator that actuates one of the valves upon the lower leg assembly reaching a travel stop limit position in either direction. When actuated, each valve cross-ports the system's fluid flow from the valve's inlet port to the system's return line, thereby permitting all fluid flow and power to bypass the power drive motor.

Abstract: A dual disconnect differential assembly for four-wheel drive (4WD) vehicle is disclosed. This disconnect differential assembly connects/disconnects both output shafts of a differential assembly simultaneously from the respective universal joints of the drive assembly. Both output shafts are interconnected to provide simultaneous sliding along an axial direction. A clutch mechanism associated with the inboard side of each universal joint (which may be a constant velocity joint) and with the output shafts is provided for simultaneous connection and simultaneous disconnection of the output shafts from the outboard side of the universal joint. The dual disconnect differential assembly herein is simple, compact, and reliable. It overcomes the disadvantages associated with single axle disconnect mechanisms presently in use. It also provides a simpler, more compact, and more reliable dual disconnect differential mechanism than any such mechanism presently known.

Abstract: A clutch mechanism (17) includes an internal gear (10) and a plurality of cylindrical pins (26) pressed rearward against a front end surface of the internal gear (10) by a coil spring (25) via a flat washer (24). Provided on the internal gear's front end surface are a plurality of cam protrusions (28) corresponding in number and position with the pins (26). Each cylindrical pin (26) has at its rear end surface a circumferentially chamfered edge (27) and each cam protrusion (28) has a pair of guide slope surfaces (29) with same inclination as the chamfered edge (27) of the pin (26).

  • Patent number: 6513634
Abstract: A drive disconnect device is provided in which input and output shafts are provided in splined engagement. The splines are aligned with the axes of the input and output shafts such that the force acting between the shafts in a separating direction is substantially invariant of the torque being transmitted. The shafts are spring biased to a disengaged position. The biasing force is resisted by a meltable restraining element which is arranged to melt when the temperature exceeds an acceptable value so as to allow the spring to cause the shafts to disengage from one another.

Abstract: This invention is directed to a wheel end assembly for engaging and disengaging the wheel end of a vehicle that is convertible between four-wheel and two-wheel drive. The invention is further directed to clutch ring engagement at the inboard end of a wheel hub whereat a retention feature retains the support bearings for the wheel hub on the vehicle suspension and whereat, independent of the retention feature, the clutch ring is operable directly between the wheel hub and axle.

  • Patent number: 6250446
Abstract: A clutch assembly 10 is provided and includes a clutch housing 12 which provides an output torque, and a clutch hub 16 which provides an input torque. Housing 12 and hub 16 each respectively include splined portions 52 and 40. Assembly 10 includes a frictional member which is coupled to housing 12 and which selectively and operatively engages hub 16 effective to cause the rotational speeds of housing 12 and hub 16 to become substantially equal. Assembly 10 further includes a member 22 having a splined portion 26 which is selectively movable to a position in which splined portion 26 is engaged with both splined portion 52 and splined portion 40, thereby providing a mechanical link between housing 12 and hub 16.
