  • Patent number: 11946537
Abstract: A damped isolation pulley having a hub, a pulley disposed concentrically about the hub, an isolation spring, an inertia ring and an electro-adhesive clutch. The hub is configured to be mounted to a crankshaft of an internal combustion engine. The isolation spring is formed of an elastomeric material and couples the pulley to the hub. The inertia ring is resiliently coupled to the hub and is rotationally de-coupled from the pulley. The electro-adhesive clutch has a clutch input member that is coupled to the pulley and can be operated to form an alternate torque path between the pulley and the hub that does not include the isolation spring.

  • Patent number: 10309760
Abstract: An angle of rotation sensor for measuring an angle of rotation of a rotatable object includes an electrically conductive band to be disposed onto the rotatable object and having two terminal ends which are spaced apart from each other and which are respectively applied with different voltages; an electrical brush in electrical contact with the electrically conductive band; and a voltage measuring device coupled to the electrical brush and measuring a divided voltage which is a voltage at a position of the electrically conductive band at which the electrical brush contacts. The angle of rotation of the rotatable object is associated with the divided voltage and the different voltages.

  • Patent number: 8714330
Abstract: An electromagnetic clutch apparatus includes: a rotational shaft rotatable for an input and output of a rotational driving force; a rotor integrally rotated with the rotational shaft about an axis and provided with a plurality of magnetic poles each having a first polarity and a second polarity being different from the first polarity, the first and second polarities of the magnetic poles being arranged alternately along a circumferential direction of the rotor; an armature supported to be rotatable relative to the rotor; a rotational member rotated for the one of the input and output of the rotational driving force relative to the armature; an exciting coil stored in the rotor and generating magnetic flux so that the rotor electromagnetically attracts the armature; and a magnetic flux detecting element arranged to face the magnetic poles along a direction of the axis so as to detect magnetic flux of the magnetic poles.

  • Patent number: 8167104
Abstract: The invention relates to a gear shifting point (10) for producing a rotationally fixed connection between a toothed wheel (16, 18) and a shaft (12). Said gear shifting point (10) comprises a shaft (12), a sliding sleeve (24) and at least one toothed wheel (16, 18). The toothed wheel (16, 18) is mounted rotationally with respect to the shaft (12). The sliding sleeve (24) is mounted on the shaft (12) in such a way that it is not rotatable therewith. The toothed wheel (16, 18) and the sliding sleeve (24) are embodied in such a way that a rotationally fixed connection can be produced therebetween in the coupled state of the gear shifting point (10) and no connection can be produced between the toothed wheel (16, 18) and the sliding sleeve (24) in the neutral state of the gear shifting point (10).

  • Patent number: 8011488
Abstract: Brushes (20, 21) which come into slidable contact with slip rings (23, 24) having power feeding terminals (51, 53) electrically connected to a power feeding side include extending portions (32, 36) extending in the radial direction of a field core (3). These extending portions (32, 36) are bent in a direction away from a coil bobbin (12). The third bent portions (32c, 36c) located at the ends of the extending portions are electrically connected to the terminal portions (10d) of coil terminals. An outer diameter R1 of a mounting recess portion (3a) which stores a power feeding device (5) of the field core (3) is smaller than an inner diameter R2 of the coil bobbin (12). This makes it possible to position the mounting recess portion (3a) at a distance H from the coil bobbin (12) in the field core (3) in the arrow A direction, thereby reducing the size of the rotating coil type electromagnetic clutch (1) in the arrow A-B direction.

  • Publication number: 20070080036
Abstract: An electromagnetic coupling device includes a rotating member having an embedded coil positioned to provide a magnetic flux path through the rotating member while substantially eliminating at least one air gap to improve efficiency. At least one bearing or bushing assembly disposed between the rotating member and a second member includes an electrically conductive lubricant to supply electrical current through the assembly and lubricant to the embedded coil during actuation of the device. A method of making an electromagnetic coupling device includes embedding a coil within a rotating member such that the rotating member contacts substantially the entire outer surface of the coil to provide an efficient magnetic flux path and thermal conductivity for heat dissipation through the rotating member and connecting the embedded coil to at least one conductive bearing assembly having conductive lubrication grease.

  • Publication number: 20020104732
Abstract: An electromagnetic clutch has a spool that houses an internal coil winding and that has a drive member attached to it. A molded plastic carrier cap is fitted onto an axial end of spool. Carrier cap has two thin, axially spaced slip rings that are secured to a peripheral wall of the carrier cap. The two slip rings are connected to input and output ends respectively of the coil winding. Coil winding is energized from a direct current source by stationery brush assemblies that are radially oriented and circumferentially spaced from each other. Each brush assembly includes a brush contact that is spring biased into contact with one of the slip rings. A plate rotor that has a drive member attached to it is next to the opposite axial end of the spool.
