Piston Has Interrupted Engagement Face Patents (Class 192/85.45)
  • Patent number: 9695883
Abstract: The clutch device includes, a right pressure flange that brings clutch discs provided on a clutch outer and clutch plates provided on a clutch inner into pressure contact with one another. A pressure ring that moves the right pressure flange with an external force and a clutch spring transmits the force toward a clutch connected position, from the pressure ring to the right pressure flange. Further, a return spring between the clutch inner and the right pressure flange urges the right pressure flange toward a clutch disconnected position. The clutch spring and the return spring are disposed parallel to a clutch axial direction, their respective positions overlapping each other in the clutch axial direction.

  • Patent number: 8348802
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a piston-actuated clutch assembly for a transmission. Interconnecting members are integrated into a pressure plate of the clutch assembly. The interlocking members are configured to selectively interlock the piston and the pressure plate. The location of the interlocking members reduces wear on the piston and other transmission components.

  • Patent number: 8256600
Abstract: A transmission includes an input member, an output member, four planetary gear sets, a plurality of coupling members and a plurality of torque-transmitting devices. A hydraulic fluid control circuit is provided for controlling the operation of the plurality of torque-transmitting devices. The hydraulic fluid control circuit receives pressurized hydraulic fluid from an off-axis hydraulic fluid pump and has a plurality of fluid passages disposed in the transmission house, input member and other coupling members.

  • Patent number: 8201678
Abstract: An automatic variable transmission with normally engaged disc clutches includes a main transmission pump connected to the transmission and at least one clutch located within the transmission. The clutch is in an engaged position when the main transmission pump is not operating. The clutch assembly includes a piston moveable between an engaged position and a disengaged position and at least one spring is operably connected to the piston. The piston is operable to move the at least one spring between the engaged position and a disengaged position. A plurality of clutch plates may transfer torque when the at least one spring is in the engaged position.

  • Patent number: 8123014
Abstract: A two way actuator in a torque transmitting assembly includes a piston member having a first side with a first contact surface and a second side opposite with a second contact surface. A backing member is sealed to the piston member. A first biasing member is disposed between the backing member and the piston member and a second biasing member is disposed between the piston member and a second member. The first torque transmitting device is engaged when a hydraulic fluid contacts the second side of the piston member and moves the piston member to contact the first torque transmitting device. The second torque transmitting device is engaged when the hydraulic fluid contacts the first side of the piston member and moves the piston member to contact the second torque transmitting device.
