Abstract: Leakage oil from a hydraulic actuator operating a dry clutch is prevented from leaking into a dry space where the dry clutch is placed. A space formed by the back surface of a piston of a hydraulic actuator, a coupling plate, and a cylinder portion is sealed by a first seal portion and a second seal portion. Oil leaked from a hydraulic oil chamber through the piston is stored in the space, and is returned to a wet space in a case through an oil passage.

  • Publication number: 20130270057
Abstract: A hydraulic clutch assembly includes a plurality of frictional clutch discs moveable between an engaged condition and a disengaged condition, wherein the engaged condition provides a transfer of rotational energy. Also included is a first toroidal hydraulic chamber configured to depress the plurality of frictional clutch discs into the engaged condition. Further included is a second toroidal hydraulic chamber opposing the first toroidal hydraulic chamber, wherein the second toroidal hydraulic chamber is configured to balance centrifugal expansion forces of the first toroidal hydraulic chamber. Yet further included is a lubrication circuit for supplying a hydraulic fluid from a fluid reservoir to the second toroidal hydraulic chamber and the plurality of frictional clutch discs, wherein the second toroidal hydraulic chamber is substantially filled prior to delivery of the hydraulic fluid to the plurality of frictional clutch discs.

  • Publication number: 20120138412
Abstract: A device for controlling a rotating shifting element of an automatic transmission for a start/stop operation. The shifting element is actuated by an axially moving piston which is biased, in a disengaging direction, by a spring and biased, in an engaging direction, by hydraulic pressure supplied to a pressure space. At least one spring-loaded latch, which able to move in the radial direction, is arranged in the pressure space. The spring-loaded latch, when the combustion engine is running, rotates with the piston and acts upon the piston such that if the engine stops, the previously engaged shifting element is locked by spring force and, as the pressure decreases, the shifting element disengages slightly, at most only slightly, and when the engine is re-started, the locking action is again released by centrifugal force, in opposition to the spring force, so that the piston remains engaged by the hydraulic pressure build-up in the pressure chamber.
