The object set output from the discharge outlet is received by a target defined by a receiving article. In one example, the object is rounded, the target is an opening of a container.

The distance may be varied for the various materials being handled. An intake hopper is mounted at one end of the tube for receiving the material to be moved and a discharge spout is mounted at the other end of the tube for discharging the material from the tube. The endless belt and flighting are driven such that their speed may be varied and such that their relative speeds are synchronized to drive the material at substantially the same speed whether it is being carried by the belt or the flighting. The combination of the belt and the flighting drives the material through the tube, minimizing damage to the material, which may be granular fertilizer, pulse crops, grains or other particulate material.

This takes place thanks to the material being subjected to force components from the two spirals (21, 31) which act in the directions of the inlet (22) and the outlet (23), respectively.     Abstract: A high capacity machine cuts the tops of plastic bottles and inverts the bottles for discharging their contents. Bottles are conveyed through the machine by a feed screw. Guides downstream from the cutting station maintain the bottle in the screw and invert it underneath the screw for dumping. The cap is not completely severed but a minor portion of the circumference is left intact to serve as a hinge between the cut bottle and cap. The cap is kept more or less erect as the bottle is inverted to avoid interference with discharge of the contents. At the cutting station a support screw is rotated synchronously with the feed screw by interengaging teeth on the crests of the threads of the two screws.

The augers are powered by a single power source that can be reversed to move bales down the elevator rather than up. When operating in reverse, it is usually desirable to make changes to the guide. The middle sections are made in various lengths so that the total height of the elevator can be varied. With previous elevators, a chain rotates upward at a back and front of the elevator. These previous elevators are much more complex.
