Patent number: 7562766Abstract: Typical roller conveyors suffer from excess noise and frequent maintenance due to worn rollers and roller bearings. Continuous loop belt conveyors solve some of these problems, but still suffer from an inability to change the width of the conveyor belt without significant rework or adjustment. Although a narrower belt can be used without major adjustment, prior continuous loop conveyor systems still suffer from belt drift. To alleviate these problems, a belt conveyor system that easily adjusts to accommodate continuous loop belts of varying widths is provided. The system comprises a rigid conveyor frame having at least one pair of generally parallel side walls traversed by one or more support brackets. The support brackets are secured to the conveyor frame. Additionally, one or more belt guides, having at least one surface for guiding a conveyor belt, are secured to the support brackets.Type: GrantFiled: July 2, 2007Date of Patent: July 21, 2009Assignee: Anheuser-Busch, Inc.Inventors: Matthew J. Patent number: 6131726Abstract: A belt steering assembly for centering of conveyor belts (5) comprises a mechanism with steering rollers (1) and guide rollers (9). In the event of a lateral misalignment of the belt (5), the belt's movement will be transferred from the guide rollers (9) to the steering rollers (1), with the result that the steering rollers return the belt to a neutral position. Preferred ratios are described between different lengths of a lever arm (6) for transfer of the movement. A method for loading of a conveyor belt comprises moving the conveyor belt (5) laterally before loading to a position where the centre of gravity of the loaded material (15) falls on the conveyor belt's central portion (12), and after loading steering the conveyor belt laterally to its neutral position.Type: GrantFiled: December 28, 1998Date of Patent: October 17, 2000Assignee: A/S Techno TrackInventors: Kenneth Hovsto, Kjell Arne Gaarden

Patent number: 6129202Abstract: A modular conveyor system having an improved side flexing conveyor belt and improved active guide rail is provided. One or more roller assemblies replace the passive inside or outside guide rails in a curved section of the conveyor system for reducing the drag force on the conveyor belt as it negotiates the curve. Pairs of articulated members interconnect roller assemblies and allow the relative angular position of each to be selectively adjusted. The improved side flexing conveyor belt includes side links having a curved skirt which bridges the gap between the side links, thereby providing a continuous bearing surface for smooth operation. The skirts of adjacent links engage each other in edge-to-edge contact to prevent the tendency to sag, as well as assisting the conveyor belt in ramping up and down and the retention of the conveyor belt along a return run.Type: GrantFiled: February 18, 1998Date of Patent: October 10, 2000Assignee: Span Tech LLCInventors: James L.
